Taycan owner for 2 days, love the car but software bugs galore!

So far (two weeks) on my '22 RWD, the only software issue I've seen is last weekend CarPlay disappeared. A message 'No device connected' appeared on the PCM screen and though I searched for a new device, I could not find my phone. What was odd is that I could play music from my iPhone though the PCM but the icon and UI for CarPlay disappeared. I reset my Bluetooth connection on my phone, and even rebooted the phone but could not get a connection or CarPlay to appear. Its like there was a Bluetooth connection to my phone (I was able to play music) but some part of PCM couldn't see the connection.

I parked the car in my garage overnight and by the next morning, CarPlay was back. Very odd.

This is super common going all the way back to my 2020. Even before WMA 5/6/7 update on hardwire. CarPlay integration is just really janky.

Just to add to some of the software bugs, I have had two map updates recently and not sure if there was a PCM update, but the PCM and Carplay just cannot play nice. When I get in the car, the radio will play (Hit favorites and none show up right away). Then Carplay connects after a couple of minutes and the radio goes out as Carplay wants to play my Spotify. So I select play on my phone or on the PCM screen (3 screen touches to get to the display to select the play arrow) and wait. Sometimes its a few minutes before any sound comes on. If I get sick of waiting and hit the Media on the lower screen or the PCM it will go back to the radio, but no music for a very long pause and the favorites take forever to display. If you discount your phone, things work as intended.

Is this a CarPlay issue or a Taycan implementation issue? My Tesla doesn't support CarPlay so I can't do an A/B.
At least for me, while CarPlay didn't show up, I was playing music from my phone over bluetooth. So there was a connection even though the PCM didn't think so.

My phone connects wirelessly to the PCM. On the main screen it will show the Carplay icon. Then I can run waze, spotify, get my messages etc. I am not sure if the Carplay or the PCM software is at fault. For 3 months, it worked pretty good. Carplay always seems to think it is in first place when it would connect, but I could easily switch back to my radio and favorites and select immediately.

Lately, there are these agonizing long silent delays while the PCM tries to figure out what is going on.

100% Taycan issue. I have 4 other cars that wireless works instantly and without fail. Its almost laughable how bad the software implementation in the Taycan is.

This might be endemic to the car industry. Ever since I 'upgraded' my Tesla to v11 last month, I no longer have buttons on the control bar to turn on the seat heaters, the tire pressure is missing and the odometer now covers the map (just to name a few UI screw ups). One step forward, two steps backward. Plus there never has been CarPlay so Waze is a no go.

I ended up getting an Echo Auto for the Tesla so I can play my iPhone music in the car. At least with the Taycan, CarPlay gives me access to my music services directly. That said, I am considering getting another Echo Auto for the Taycan so I can use Alexa voice commands (Siri is not as good).

#1 My dealer had trouble setting this up initially also. They called support while the car was still there and got everything sorted before we took the car.

#2 sounds like a sensor issue. Take it to the dealer.

#3 …I’m not sure you should need a calculator to convert from bar to kPa…

Setting->System->Units->Pressure

#4 Is it activated?
Settings->Vehicle->Smart Lift

#5 Is it enabled?
Settings->Displays->Instrument Cluster->Configure Display

all wheel does not exist on my new 4s delivered in December

It plays the music and does the nav … I mean you can try to be flippant about it but sheesh come on. Reliable software that doesn’t glitch lets me focus on driving. It’s the shitty buggy stuff that is the distraction.
