Recall (9/1/23): Insufficient Sealant Causing High-Voltage Battery Leak on 2023 Taycans APB2 (4,777 Units Affected)

Mine (GTS ST) is stuck at port with sliding delivery dates. I checked the VIN and it it not in any recalls. I don’t know MY24 makes any difference (as the VIN is not in the range of affected list). The latest is that it should be sent to dealership in 5 days. Will see if the date holds good.

Sorry to hear. Interestingly, my TYD changed last night and noted that the vehicle arrived at my dealer! It has been "en route" for over a month (although sitting at the dealer storage).

Hopefully the MY24 delivery issues will not end up being part of the APB2 recall! I will know more tomorrow as I'll be at the dealer for a different car.

While I love the photos from @DougFrisk above, I don't get why the battery can't be tested from below.

They certainly don't take the car apart from the inside to replace the battery, so why can't the battery shield be removed from below giving access to the battery ports?

Maybe they will, but previous TSBs stated that the tools were developed because of a need to perform in-car battery testing. Since these components are on the top of the centerline of the battery pack, in-car testing pretty much must mean in-cabin access.

Only the last 5 digits mean anything, that's the serial number.

The "Y1" is the first two characters of the model number the 12th digit is the third character and will be an A in your cases. The 3 in position 9 is a check digit.

I stopped by the dealer to see what is the timing for repair under this recall. They said they have nothing in hand from Porsche at this time and it can be weeks of months before they have everything they need to perform work under this recall. The items that they are waiting for is a procedure and part numbers needed in a document, then they wait on the parts to arrive and only then they can make an appointment. My concern is that if let's say it checks out now, but the sealant is compromised a year later, then what, just wait on the electrical faults to appear?

I went in dealership yesterday for the passenger door trim issue and after checking my vin, they are going to do this recall to check high voltage battery. They told me it's going to take 3 to 5 business days to complete them. (2 recall and change passenger door trim)

Out of curiosity, did they say how long it would take to replace the battery if yours is one of the unlucky 3%? Or did they not even consider that possibility?

They won't tell me until they diagnose the battery first since they have to ask another department to order the battery. I'm driving their loaner taycan at the moment.

No problem. They told me that they are not even sure when they will receive the guide lines. I have to wait until they call me to schedule appointment.
