Mine's only 18 months but even before buying I knew that the extended warranty would be part of the total cost of ownership. You just don't gamble with Porsche repair prices in my opinion.

Usually I change cars every 3-4 years but with this one I'll keep until the J2 model is released and then assess

Given the depreciation, economically, there’s not much option! With hindsight, maybe buying at 3 years old, or older, is the sweet spot.

Interesting point for UK owners.....

If you take the warranty and then subsequently sell the car outside of the Porsche network, you can reclaim the premiums for the unused months (as long as no claim has been made).

I just p/x my Taycan for a BMW and have reclaimed the unused months of my 1 year warranty taken out last August.

So it makes taking the extended warranty even less of a risk.

So is the warranty non-transferable, or can you just get a refund if the new buyer doesn't want it?

You can transfer the extended warranty to a private buyer or Porsche franchise, but not to a non Porsche franchise.
If a Porsche over 3 years old is advertised for sale by a dealer other than a Porsche franchise as having a Porsche warranty, they’re telling Porsche porkies.

Yes, you can transfer to a private buyer. The warranty terms describe how, I think you just get in touch with Porsche UK

It was in the policy wording when I looked into it.
I don't think it's something they actively promote - as they probably don't want to refund.
And you have to do it via the dealer network and provide the proof of sale.

But iirc it stated the warranty is transferable if the car stays within Porsche (ie p/x for a new Porsche) but is not outside (p/x to other brand).

BMW i4 M50....
It is a better car for me for a number of reasons. Really happy with it.

But I am still also on here, as I really like this forum and the 'quality' of members/posts.

No doubt I will drift away in time.

They are lovely cars - I nearly got one instead of the CT4S - drove really nice. The finances made more sense, its a quick car and I knew the tech as I'd had BMW's for 10+ years.

Please keep in touch with why you swapped and info about your new one. Interested to know how it compares.

Number of reasons it works for me....

Firstly, it's a bit smaller. The Taycan always felt a bit cumbersome for my life. We are surrounded by country lanes and narrow parking spaces.

Secondly, it's AWD and rapid, whereas my RWD Taycan was only luke warm.

Third, I love the BMW tech. It's way better than the Taycan. Things just work (I had an M2 before the Taycan and was v disappointed with Porsche tech).

Fourth. The wife has a BMW PHEV. So she is happy driving the M50 (not so the Taycan) - so the cars are more interchangeable.

Fifth. Huge disappointment with my Porsche ownership experience. No need to explain that here (recalls/faults/courtesy cars/dealers/Porsche tax etc).

Sixth. Good p/x on the Taycan and a truly amazing deal on a fully losded M50.....in a lovely BMW frozen paint too.

Seventh. High insurance / warranty / Connected Drive costs on the Taycan (Porsche tax).
May as well spend it on a new car.

So for me it made sense to switch and I really love the M50. Makes me smile whenever I drive it.
It just feels a better fit for me personally but ymmv.
It feels like changing from a Versace suit to a Stone Island jacket (which is just more me....working class lad and all that ?).

Sorry - very off topic.
