Something that I never really thought about with previous ICE vehicles. Squirrels can’t hear the Taycan approaching and just stand their minding their own business until you are right up on them. Nearly ran over 3 in the last week. I’m guessing the same with deer and moose but I don’t really want to find out.

Hvae we asked any of our furry friends if it is just a Taycan issue or is something similar happning with Macns and Teslas?

It may not be a bad idea to have EV’s emit a inaudible sound which only animals like dogs, cats, deer, etc, can hear to warn them otherwise these animals are not only in more danger from stealth EVs but so are the drivers.
I could see areas where there are known populations of deer or moose within the maps apps could trigger a specific sound from EVs to alert or scare away animals when going above a certain speed through their habitats. Even headlights could strobe if that is more effective to shoot them from the highway.
I’ve lived in new England when I was young and remember the not so rare occurrence of someone hitting a deer at night on a winding road or highway at 55+ mph and the damage to the vehicle is devastating.

If you hit a full grown deer side on with a low slung Taycan then the mass of that beast is going straight through the windscreen… you can buy external fit whistles that are above human hearing range, but highly debatable whether they will actually work…

I’ve seen first hand what a full grown deer does when it hits a windshield and kills the occupants. With a lot of luck hopefully the deer jumps high enough it skips along the roof instead of a direct hit to the windshield. Deer can easily jump 6’ in the air which would clear a Taycan but a direct hit would likely be fatal for both the Taycan driver/passenger as well as the deer even at just 25-30 mph.
The death I witnessed many years ago was a driver hitting a deer at 60+ mph.
The damage was devastating to the 1970s era sedan which were built like tanks back then.
Thank god the likelihood of hitting a deer in Orange County, CA along the major freeways is very very low but not in the mountains…

I have witnessed something similar. Bizarrely, in the congested SE UK the roads are jammed but the deer are numerous, we don’t have the open space or culture for hunting that has prevailed in US or Continental Europe..
