You might be right... and that would truly be a shame. Porsche brand has value in itself but that's due to the decades of excellence in engineering, motorsports, and luxury. Now they are forced to chase profits due to going public...
What was the reason why Porsche went public?
In my opinion, as soon as they went public, the focus on engineering and quality went down. They instead focused on maximizing profits over experience and pleasing their investors, just like any other normal OEM.
Porsche is not a normal OEM, they...
I doubt they can afford it. LG chem's batteries are in many EVs. The costs associated with recalling and replacing all the batteries may bankrupt them.
Going back to the title of the post - I personally believe that we won't truly know if this repeats the Bolt EV battery disaster until the court case is completed. It is possible we may continue to get further recalls or maybe a TSB once HV battery warranty ends until the court case is completed...
Service at EV auto manufacturers are better for sure. But Porsche can get to that point if they organize better. I've driven the Lucid Air and in my opinion, the Taycan is on a whole different level of driving dynamics and experience. Granted, mine does have Air suspension, PTV+, Rear Axle...
Sure, but they will eventually take sales away from other VW-owned brands. Why buy a 911 GT3RS when you can purchase a Lamborghini Temerario? According to some, it is apparently easier to purchase a Lamborghini than Porsche's GT3 models. Sure, driving dynamics are different, but Lamborghini is...
Agreed, Porsche continuously increasing their prices will cause them to eventually be in the same starting price range as Bentley, Lamborghini, McLaren, etc. (a few options specced out in most vehicles already gets you there anyways). That is not taking into account dealer markup.
Quite sad tbh...
Exactly! It is actually costing Porsche and its dealers by doing these recalls part by part. If they were to do a full battery replacement, or somehow find a way to replace all the modules in an existing battery pack with updated chemistry, that would be a way to save money (and save face)...
This is what I’ve done and it resolved the issue too. Apparently this is an issue happening all of Porsche's newer vehicles with the updated infotainment system.
My service center told me Porsche is aware of the issue and they are working on a permanent fix.
Unfortunately, not everyone has the capability to Lemon Law the car.
IMO, Porsche will need to address this issue better than GM has done for the Bolt EVs. The main issue is the battery, and LG Chem has been known to have trouble with these batteries early on. Even Jaguar just bought back...
IANAL nor do I work for insurance.
From my understanding, I believe the answer is yes, your engine would be covered if you accidentally drive over a boulder while driving, as part of the comprehensive coverage. But only if it was caused by external factors, i.e. running over something while...
I understand your sentiment and anyone else who feels the same way.
The situation that OP is experiencing can happen to any Porsche Taycan owner who gets a small dent in their protective tray. Most people just go through insurance, but OP chose to push back (rightly so IMO) and the Tom Wood...
Unfortunately at this point, the only way this gets fixed is if news organizations start reporting on it.
If there is a combined effort to notify the folks who report on EV news such as Electrek, InsideEVs, Teslarati, TheDrive, OutofSpec, etc. it will pick up enough steam to pressure a change...
