Porsche is Toast! A Wake-Up Call From the Streets of Shenzhen...

I think you need to temper that a bit. First, Shenzen and Shanghai are far from typical of most of China. Second, just look around you. Cars have blue plates for ICE that are mainly European, Japanese or Korean, and green plates for EVs that are a mix of mainly Chinese but quite a few...

    Farewell to the Taycan Forum

You don’t need to leave. You can always pay-forward for all the knowledge you have gained from others here and from owning the cars to help the next generation of new owners.

What will happen to J1.1 Taycans in the near future if the motor blows?

Interesting if you watch the Matt Armstrong videos where he rebuilds crashed cars, to see just how many of the components used come from many other cars and manufacturers, the classic being the parts sourced in his Bugatti Veyron rebuild where Bugatti refused to supply him. Same part off a...

What will happen to J1.1 Taycans in the near future if the motor blows?

I think once the warranties start to expire we will see a whole load of independent garages/shops and suppliers spring up including batteries/battery modules. At the moment there is no incentive as Porsche have it all tied up with the warranties. But once the first batteries come off...

What will happen to J1.1 Taycans in the near future if the motor blows?

These guys in Cheshire, UK will do Taycans https://www.weissachuk.com/ As I believe will these in Bolton https://www.porschekraft.co.uk/ I’ve heard of a third near Nottingham/Derby but not been able to track it down. HTH

    12V battery died

Not surprised. If you are making to a budget Lithium Phosphate batteries are massively more expensive.

    12V battery died

The jump leads are fine to tickle it awake. A jump box is designed to jump start a car not recharge the battery. Also get one with an override on sensing a battery. Many won't provide a jump until they sense a battery is present which they won't do if the battery is dead or disconnected.

    12V battery died

There was a problem with batteries going dead due to faulty monitoring but there is a software update to solve that so the HV battery keeps it topped up. The battery doesn't actually go flat. It gets disconnected when the voltage drops to prevent it going flat. The boost process through the...

Had it two days and crashed it 😱

Surprised the automatic systems didn’t warn you and then stop you especially since you seem to have hit one of its sensors dead centre.

    Bleeding Brakes

Yes, the switch to mechanical brakes occurs IIRC at 3mph.

    Can a OPC retrofitt ACC?

https://www.afterone.co.uk/. Good guys and did mine. Not sure looking at their website that they do the Taycan ACC anymore but worth a call to check.

    Bleeding Brakes

The feel in a Taycan has nothing to do with bleeding the hydraulic brakes. The brake pedal is connected by a wire to a computer not the hydraulics. The feel is defined in software and is similar to other ICE Porsches with direct hydraulic brakes IME. My Cayman for example feels similar and...

    Bleeding Brakes

You’d better contact Porsche to let them know they don’t know how their brakes work. https://christophorus.porsche.com/en/2022/403/technique-taycan-energy.html The Taycan is brake by wire - the pedal is not connected to the master cylinder but to a computer that works out how much regen and...

    Bleeding Brakes

Bleeding the brakes won’t help. That is how the pedal feels. Apart from the first mile after a cold start, the final few mph of a stop the car doesn’t use the mechanical brakes. It’s all done by the electric motors not the disks and pads. The only exception is if the braking exceeds the...
