being on car forums since 2003 taught me this method. when collecting a list of users each successive user should just append their username to the then current list as a reply to the thread. This way, it can be collected simply in the most recent post. Reply to the post if you want to be dropped by editing your name out. And if you have specification requests like "single carrier", then you can enter it as text next to your username.

So up to now the list is this, and the next interested party would log it name as #8 to this reply and so on and so forth

I'm going to have to back out unfortunately. This was for a planned CT purchase later this summer that is now on hold indefinitely

Just curious if there was any follow-up on this? Thanks!
No nothing yet. I saw that the 1up van rack is $90 each or $180/pair so I was figuring out to use a piece of metal plate/strip under a pair of those from support to support and secure the individual van racks to the support and also to the metal strip.

@Mad Matter @bsclywilly

Just curious and not to derail the thread, but was a design where a 90 degree bend tube came out of each receiver to clear the bumper and then a straight tube with a bolted or welded hitch receiver could be bolted to the two 90 bend pieces to basically make a functioning hitch? Or straight out from each receiver with a short piece and then bolt on a U shaped piece with the hitch.

Then a user could use any hitch rack and also use a hitch rack that can angle away from the hatch to allow better access with bikes on it.

This would be similar to the other option I saw on here which looked like the same thought but with a ball hitch on it.

Thanks

In short, that would result in the bikes overhanging off the back by another foot or so and sitting higher up. Factor in the added weight of a hitch rack too and it’s not ideal for hauling bikes. It is an attractive idea if you have other hitch accessories though.

@popjewels, on my original group buy a few years back I got a 10% discount from 1up but they needed all the orders shipped to my address. Factor in extra shipping cost and having to package them all, it didn’t end up being much of a savings. And warranty issues are better handled if you guys buy them yourselves. But it’s worth a try emailing them to see if they could be more flexible. Their customer service is very responsive: [email protected]

I already ordered the aluminum tubing and some hardware I was short. I am still waiting to hear back on machine time and anodizing cost for the lot.
Hi Mad Matter,

Do you think we are a couple of weeks away from getting some completed or longer? Weather is getting nicer so just want to know if I need to come up with a temp bike carrier solution while these get made. Thanks!

@madhatter: I think you tried the Kuat holder on yours right. Did it bolt directly through the mounting holes or must you use their round bar adapter? Thx

The Kuat can bolt up to the bars but new additional hardware will be required. The hardware provided by Kuat is not compatible with the hardware I provide since Kuat uses metric hardware and I provide SAE to work in conjunction with the 1up Rack.

Any chance you have the double rack built up again. Would be nice to get the double version.

I do have an extra 'double' from this build as someone already backed out.
