'26 Slate Grey Neo Taycan Turbo - Satin wrap, Turbonite wheels, gloss black accents, Uniden R9w radar install

Just got my '26 Turbo back from its initial "ready to drive" setup from the shop. I think they did a nice job - I know the satin look ain't en vogue this year but I really like it and it lets me wash the car like a lazy guy which is important to me!

The turbonite wheel dip was recommended by the installer and I think it's a nice touch. They also glossed up a number of the black body pieces which make it pop a bit nicer than stock to my aging eyes.

As I do on all of my cars, a reasonably stealthy but comprehensive set of radar / laser detector sensors from a Uniden R9w system on the front and back.

Finally, they installed the FitCamX Dashcam. It's a great installation and setup (both front and rear) but boy is the app integration pretty lousy. It just sits and fights Apple CarPlay constantly making it a pain to actually use.

But - most important of all - the car is an absolute BLAST to drive. Forget the haters. Depreciation be damned. Zoom!

Freaking love the color of that wrap. You don’t have to tell us the exact cost, but a ballpark would be nice. It looks so well done with zero flaws!

Obviously amazing and over the top, assuming this is Slate Grey Neo stock in satin PPF film, and not actually a wrap over stock black/white to be clear. Also, I wonder what does a wheel dip in Turbonite mean (how is it done?) to match other stock bits such as hood logo and window surrounds.

A few more touches could help it even further:
- Side Markers appear to be yellow, even though they have satin film over them. I would swap them for Euro clear, which is one of the most basic DYI mods, and they would match perfectly without film over them.
- Electric text on the front doors, I would remove that for the cleanest look.
- Lastly, I would remove the monkey butt, the blab that is around the license plate.

But that is just me to clean it up a little more.

Also, I wonder if you could post a window sticker or configurator code to see how you optioned it. For example, I do not see Night Vision camera up front, etc.

One thing that looks a bit off to me is the S being another shade/color than turbo

Thanks for the comments all - a few responses:

1) Yes, it’s stock Slate Gray Neo color w/ a transparent satin wrap.

2) Honestly I don’t know what it means to “dip” the wheels - but it sure is purty! I really like the installers thought to bring the turbonite color around the car to accent the wheel caps and hood shield.

3) I’m afraid to google “monkey butt” but i‘m curious to see what it is and if i should take it off!

4) I like the idea of transparent side markers - I’m one of the least DIY people you will ever meet but I’ll look it up to see if it’s something i can tackle solo.

5) On the black “S” Turbo - i don’t’ disagree. The installer really pushed that the black bits on the car be removed and painted glossy and he felt that doing so for the S would also help. I ain’t sold, but i also am not going to tear it off yet.

3) Monkey butt (US exclusive ugliness) is an easy DYI, so if you are open to it after reading my step by step, I can help you order the right parts and step you through it on a video call.

I gave some thought on how to type this up clearly, but gave up and just took a video that I will make an attempt at posting here.

What I think it shows is that the WiFi connection required to access the FitCamX (with the kludgey iOS "join WiFi" UI) -> breaks the wireless CarPlay connection -> connects briefly to the FitCamX -> then CarPlay promptly forces a reconnect after the drop and breaks the FitCamX connection before anything substantial can happen... Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

Then you’re free to change Wi-Fi. When you’re done, to re-enable CarPlay, revisit the above and enable the toggle.

2nd - Dear god this is an absolutely dumb process. I can't believe reasonably seamless switching (or dual connections) between WiFi SSIDs isn't possible on these devices in 2026. I have the same issue when I'm trying to use a WiFi connection to my camera. It's like.... "has anyone actually used this???"
