Did you jump start the car to get it towed? Did the same error show on the IC?

PS> 3 weeks to get the car looked at is not great, but not the worst I've heard of either. I realize as I write this, it is a little sad that a brand has so many broken cars, they don't even have staff to diagnose the issue for 3 weeks. The time to source parts and repair will be another story.
3 weeks is ridiculous and has been my own experience too. No matter how good the car is, to see those delays fairly consistently is a killer.

Thanks for this. The car stayed overnight in my parking, I cannot even start it.

I’will jump start it when they will tow it so I can add it to N but seems unlikely to be just the 12V since it stopped while I was driving.

What makes me think it’s the HW is that the AC stopped blowing cold air and if I remember correctly the AC is also using HW but the fans where working
Is your car up to date with recalls? The curious symptom was the that the AC blew warm air. The thermal control unit controls diverting AC to the battery. This unit has been the subject of a recall/campaign. If that unit totally failed (which is why they are being recalled), it will not permit the battery to be cooled to an acceptable operating temperature. The battery will throw the error code and a thermal unit will not permit a clearing cycle. If it is this part that failed, the whole repair should be covered by the recall campaign.
Either way, I wish good luck in the repair adventure.

The dealer said it only has one 12v recall. Will find out in 3-4 weeks

Thanks!

Dealership texted me today that they started evaluating the car and that it “has a few HV defects” I asked the battery? and she said “likely no” and “they need to evaluate cables, electronics, modules and will take some time”

Dealer came back today. Out of warranty.

she said the Ebox fuse was dead and they need to check what killed it, could be the motor or the power electronics.

she followed:
The most likely culprit is the Power Electronics (the inverter)

Based on owner-reported experience and the Taycan’s architecture, a faulty inverter can produce exactly the symptoms described:
  • the car no longer starts;
  • a short circuit occurs on the HV circuit;
  • the fuse in the E-Box blows as a protective measure.
This would also be the less expensive scenario of the two major ones.

The electric motor is possible, but rarer, Taycan motors are generally very reliable. There are documented cases of failures, but they’re far less common than issues with the electronics or the HV system management.

Hardware costs 4-8k euro + labor

I had to flatbed my 4S last week after hitting a pot hole. 3 bad battery modules and the shields under the car. Batteries $64000(covered by Porsche). $38000 for the shields being passed to State Farm as an accident claim. Porsche isn’t on the preferred list so let’s see what the offer is….. This is my last Taycan. Back to the 911. Matt

I got the same error while my car was AC charging. It stopped charging at around 80%, and this message popped up.

I bought the car just two weeks ago and, also purchased the Zurich EV extended warranty since I don't have the factory LV warranty.

I just dropped it off at the dealership. Getting it onto the tow truck was a huge hassle since there was no power steering. I'm hoping the extended warranty covers the repair. Has anyone had experience with Zurich's EV extended warranty?

Have you got photos of the damage that was done?

Those prices seem lumpy. I'd have thought the 64k was a full battery pack including its shields.

I get the feeling there is much more to this story. Missing some key details. A pot hole wouldn’t destroy your shields and battery.

And if it did, it would be a full insurance claim, no chance warranty covers physical damage from an accident.

The bad modules and the pot hole accident seem like they would have to be separate events. And if the battery replacement was an insurance claim, that high $ amount would mean the car would be totaled.

Another detail that isn’t adding up is $38,000 for the battery “shields.” Those alone wouldn’t cost that much. Must be other damage. Was this pot hole 2 feet deep or something?? Whatever it was, I wouldn’t want to hit it in a 911 either!

Interestingly enough, your story showed up on my Facebook feed. On there you said the car was totaled.

Not sure why you’re posting a slightly different version of the story here. 🤷‍♂️

It’s totaled. I haven’t gotten the State Farm price they’re offering though

Obviously SF values your car at less than $38k if they totaled it due to a $38k repair bill.
