Made the move from Taycan (‘21 Base) to BMW i5 (eDrive 40) and will attempt to give my pros/cons of each
I built my Taycan, I loved my Taycan, but here is why I did it:
- was faced with either buying a warranty or changing cars within a year, as I was unwilling to risk taking the Taycan out of...
Was worried about getting the 21” Mission’s Painted in body color both because of damage and having to often replace tires.
However, I felt the look of them made the car pop so I optioned them and did not option the wheel insurance (although I thought about it)
What I did option was the...
Never gotten an alignment & just had my rear 21” tires replaced for the first time at 18,000 miles - Base RWD. And still had life left but wanted to be safe going into the SoCal wet season.
You should be fine - unless I nail a curb or something I’m going to let ride.
‘21 RWD, no Air suspension, Mission E’s, drive on normal mode. No performance battery.
Typically I get 180-240 miles based mostly on weather. Warm and sunny in Southern California and I’m sitting at Electrify as we speak with 230 miles at 95%
Hi all!
Starting a the 1-year post delivery mark (a few weeks ago), when I plug into Electrify America it says “Payment Not Accepted” rather than beginning to charge.
Tried the typical troubleshooting, booting up from the Charging app and ultimately nothing worked and I was pressed for time so...
Almost too many to count, but yesterday was in a fast food drive-thru & the window employee says “are you familiar with the Tik-Tok Guy who goes up to people in nice cars and asks what they do for a living?” To which I reply “yes,” & then he proceeds to ask me what I do for a living. He then...
RWD with Steel & zero regrets not getting Air. No complaints on comfort and 10k miles in and have never scrapped the car. Had the Tesla suspension which raised/lowered before and never used it other than a party trick so knew I probably didn’t need it. Was concerned with high ride height but...
Discovered the Auto-Regen option about a month ago (late to the party) and absolutely love it for highway driving considering I don’t have ACC. However, during an hour commute it will turn off and I get a pop-up that says “auto regen not available” anywhere from 0-3 times with the average being...
Would 100% do Mission’s again. A bit of decreased range and not looking forward to tires changes, but 10k miles in and still plenty of tread so I expect to get to 20k miles before first tire change. My only pro-tip would be to Ceramic the painted parts of the wheels - between that and the...
Thinking 3-4 years just because I’m afraid of taking a Porsche out of the 4 year/50k mile warranty considering the expensive parts. But if there’s some reliable/reasonable extended warranty out there I’d be up for keeping it until the battery warranty.
*Ive had TWO Tesla batteries die on me...
IE stand up! I’m in Rancho Cucamonga (and grew up in Corona). Sadly though, I won’t be punching it as I have a lowly RWD, but with my Mission-E’s & Sport Skirts I’ll look damn good as y’all pass me :)
Listed my $100,700 MSRP ‘21 RWD with 7500 miles at $119k just in case. No real intention of letting it go but if somebody really wants it in this market figured I have to say yes if that much over MSPR
PB+ does not add to performance because of the additional weight. You do not need PB+ for Launch Control. I have a RWD without PB+ or Chrono and I have Launch Control. I do not have Sports+ (at least I don’t think so)
Everybody on this form led me to believe I needed PB+ if for nothing else than resale. I did not check the box and 8 months in have no regrets.
Since you’ve tried electric sound you better know you don’t want/need it. I’ve never had it so sometimes I’m like “man, that would be kinda cool to...
Def like the build. If going for a sporty look I highly recommend sport design side skirts - for 1k they really add to the appearance.
2 boxes I slightly regret not checking that you also don’t have on this build are Sports Chrono & Electric Sound - both gimmicky but strangely I still wish I...
‘21 RWD here with Steel & leading up to delivery was also terrified it would sit too high/regretting not getting Air Suspension. After receiving the car absolutely did not think it needed lowering and sat great. I did still tint windows, PPF the front for protection & Ceramic the whole thing -...
This post influenced me to get a Vroom offer and sadly my $100,700 MSRP ‘21 RWD with 7,030 miles fished a $83,000 offer. I was ready to let it go if I could get $110k and this post made me hopeful, but no such luck :(
May still briefly test the Private Sale market before hunkering down for the...
