I think it’s very interesting that both the Autocar and Automobile reviews state nary a word about range. I hope it will be better than we have been led to believe!
Now I’m not saying that the Taycan will have the same range as an M3, but Bjorn Nyland figures it will do about the same as the M3 in calculations based on his M3 long distance effort over 24 hours compared to the Taycan’s run at the Nardo ring:
The problem, honestly, is that you make sweeping statements without knowing for sure what the actual truth is. This is what my problem is with your so-called realism. I am not trying to be inflammatory, honestly.
Porsche is not 9 years behind Tesla. They are using a battery tech that is not...
There are tradeoffs with using cylindrical cells. You can not compare the range of SUVs and smaller sedans like the M3 and draw conclusions based on the range differences. That’s like saying oh, my Range Rover gets worse MPG than my Lotus, so the Lotus must have newer technology under the hood...
This doesn’t make any practical sense. Why would Porsche today have to start from square one again in regards to battery technology? They don’t, of course, and I doubt that they will. Pouch and prismatic cells are in fact state of the art designs, and newer than cylindrical cells. Of course...
I’m inclined to agree. I think this placement, for those not fortunate enough to ever have had the opportunity to drive a 918 regularly (almost everyone), will more likely remind them of other cars. For me it is reminiscent of a Prius, sadly.
I’m sure it is something I will get used to...
I’m not so happy about the idea of a stalk shifter. Tesla does it this way. I which they stuck to a 992 style shift paddle in the center console....
Looks pretty sweet overall though!
Both vehicles are named in the captions. The first is a Mission E Cross Turismo concept vehicle. The other is a preproduction Taycan like you see all over this forum. No need to be an expert for this. The forum is full of expert conjecturers though!
PAG_J1,
User AlexPorsche quotes a WLTP (not NEDC) mileage rating (apparently info from the factory) much better than what we have been led to believe. Any truth to this? The user is on another Taycan forum whose link seems to have been removed. I did include it prior to this editing of the...
From the Motor Trend article:
“It's like being fired out of a railgun. The black Porsche lunges at the horizon, the rate of acceleration one long, linear surge of weapons-grade thrust. Corner! Meier's hard on the brakes, the monster carbon-ceramic rotors feeling every bit as predictable and...
I hope the 234 miles estimated range cited from the C&D article on the test vehicle is “real world” and maybe an estimate based on previous combination of regular and high performance driving. Was hoping for both more efficiency and performance with the 2-speed Taycan drivetrain...
When does the online configurator go live typically for Porsche new model releases in general? I realize it may not be the same for the Taycan, but just wondering about when it typically happens? Same day/week as official model announcement or sometime later?
I think the crux of a majority of the arguments here is disagreement as to what exactly “similar to the Mission-E” means. Obviously you are giving Porsche much less latitude to veer from the original exact design whereas others are obviously giving Porsche some latitude, assuming (and trusting)...
I just today received a Certificate of Participation etc in the mail today with my name on it. I was number 50 something of people interested at my local San Antonio dealer (who does not take deposits). I was wondering if I would get one of these since the dealer does not take deposits rather...
Gotcha. But, I personally don’t like the roof spoiler on some of the Panamera models. So not sure how to feel about one on the Taycan... until I actually see it I suppose.
