My 22Kw (2021) went out with the red circle of death, and they replaced it with an 11Kw one, they knew right away, and they paid for it. It's for AC and most US houses can't supply enough current for 22Kw, so the 11Kw works fine.

5 min charging is great, but remember, power in = power out, so if a car can be charged to 100% today with 250A 800V, it will need 10 times that to do twice as big is 5 minutes.

They replaced mine with an 11KW and it's fine. Still charges the whole car in an evening.

Some fun facts. 22KW at 220-240 VAC is 80-90 AMPS. I know of no homes that can provide that kind of charging. 11KW is 40-45 AMPS, which is what most homes are set up to handle. 11KW isn't a big deal.

They covered mine under warranty. Since this was a defect on their part, it should be covered anyway. They are all literally failing. Many countries limit warranty regulations, so it isn't always the car manufacturer's fault, but this is clearly not a failure from use or abuse, it is a faulty...

CA has a lot of chargers, but because of the rebates and promotions, there are more cars than chargers. Many of the large chargers have a split setup or shared, depending on the power available

We have a 100A panel, the charger is 35A, we have a Model Y and theTaycan. No problems with having only 100A, we don't dry clothes at night nor use the oven. Even if AC comes on, there is so little usage at night that it never causes an issue.

My 2021 did the same, plugged it in one night for a charge with the Tesla AC adapter, and came out in the AM, with the breaker blown, everything red and had to push it out of the garage onto the tow truck. They towed it at there expense, and replaced the charger with the 11K version, $6K but...
