Remote Climate Function – This function cannot be currently executed. Please try again or contact Porsche Centre

Question for you guys on this topic - I let my Porsche Connect services lapse. Probably 7 months ago? I didn't really care b/c my remote climate still worked... until last week. The PCM screen where can enable/disable show remote climate as active and the other features included in Porsche...

Taycan vs 911 (Which to buy)

Funny thing about the internet… such opposite perspectives. I have two young kids and have never once had to rely on my wife’s car for anything. Quite the opposite… for the last year our Taycan was the family car because the other car was a Tesla model X snd it was just junk. The kids love the...

Macan loaner: why is the quality so much better?

Another no-rattle car here. The Taycan I've got is freakishly quiet. It's become the roadtrip car of choice for the family b/c it's so quiet and comfortable.

    Charger Wall Mount pictures

Yeah if that box is to the right, I'd give yourself 8+ inches, or a little more if it's not recessed in wall b/c you don't want to be squeezing the cord between your wall box and circuit panel. It's an easy install if you've got your outlet in the right spot. Just be mindful of the orientation...

    Charger Wall Mount pictures

For 1) If we're talking about the same dimension it's roughly 7". I can't see it perfectly but if you're talking about the space between the opening in the plastic back plate and the right edge... sort of like if you're wanting to make sure you're not too close to a wall on the right side. I...

Dealing with the front license plate

Yeah I think I actually like a mounted plate better than this. Right - this wouldn't fly in our state. The FAQ says there isn't any state with a law that prohibits vinyl plates.... but my state, as an example, specifically calls out that the plate used has to be what is issued by the state...

Taycan vs 911 (Which to buy)

I guess I have a unicorn. And I guess the media outlets that tested range also have unicorns. But it could be that I'm only 4,000 miles in on my Turbo and just don't have the experience you and all your friends have. I'll take my 275 miles and be happy with it then. And L3 charging in/around...

Taycan vs 911 (Which to buy)

Interesting considering I have another EV with more 'stated range' and the Taycan's conservative nature blows it out of the water. I push north of 275 miles in my Turbo on a road trip and likely could have gone farther but the timing didn't require it. Also, coast to coast and midwest...

Don Breaks His Taycan - The Saga of the 12v Battery

wait a minute... are you suggesting the two groups of engineers aren't talking?? /S. I bet you're right. Simple enough from the outside but classic forest for the trees problem. The joys of a first gen learning curve. With our first EV we learned our driving habits just didn't support L1...

Don Breaks His Taycan - The Saga of the 12v Battery

Well said. This is precisely why I've argued against people in forums saying "oh we can just install community charging plugs for EV's in dense areas and apartment complexes. 120v is fine for basic use." It's a much different beast to plan for EV charging than simply having a plug in the...

Don Breaks His Taycan - The Saga of the 12v Battery

Just to add a note for anyone that doesn’t realize the terms get used interchangeably, the circuit is 120v or 240v. When you see someone reference 110v or 220v they’re generally referring to 120v and 240v.

Don Breaks His Taycan - The Saga of the 12v Battery

The senior tech from my dealership is was not worried about the Taycan battery... he was worried about the li-ion booster blowing up b/c the Taycan might backfeed through the 12v batter to the booster and overrun what the booster battery was able to handle. I was happy to not take the chance.

Don Breaks His Taycan - The Saga of the 12v Battery

I've seen conflicting info too. For me, a few weeks ago, we jumped off the tow truck's battery. Porsche told us the potential for the Taycan to back-charge the Li-ion booster pack was too great (explosion risk b/c the Li-Ion battery isn't able to handle a charge at that speed) and to not do...

Don Breaks His Taycan - The Saga of the 12v Battery

Opening isn't a problem as the window has enough play in it to open. Closing it is a bit more nuanced b/c it's up too far. I had to push the window in at the top as I closed the door but I got the door closed.

Don Breaks His Taycan - The Saga of the 12v Battery

That would mean my 12v was dead when I pulled in and parked b/c I don't charge on a timer. And maybe that's the case.... but I pulled in and plugged in like normal but the PMCC never saw it.

Don Breaks His Taycan - The Saga of the 12v Battery

This. When mine crapped out it was plugged in but did not charge. The logs on the PMCC don't show the charge at all so it didn't even get going to the point to register - the next day it's completely dead. Given there are instances where being plugged in was not even remotely involved, that...

    Blocking front wheel arch vents

Yes, I ordered manual doors for partly this reason. I'm not a fan of fake vents. Also, I don't like the small fin that sticks out for that purpose. I'd much rather the have retractable door but the trade off with the vent and the fin did the decision for me.

    New 2021-functions in the 2020-model?

I did a decent little trip back in I think august and had no issues with EA either. I've read a lot of it (and echoed by their CEO) is the card swipe hardware - hence the push for plug and charge as it makes everyone's life better. I used my EA app and RFID pad grabbed it without an issue...

Noooo!!!! That was probably one of the biggest wish items I’ve got for the next iteration.

Got the same info on my side as well. Now I don't know if that's a car update or an update for the PMCC.
