I still have my 2021 Taycan Turbo as well as other EVs. I would have “upgraded” to a 2025 if the depreciation hadn’t been so extreme. Instead, I bought an extended warranty. The one-owner used deals on Taycans are insanely good right now.
For s*its and giggles I tried using a Tesla SpC with my Taycan about an hour ago while on a roadtrip. If I use the Porsche Taycan profile which is set for with an adapter on the Tesla app it says the location isn’t available (no magic dock). I tried EV6 and Lucid Gravity profiles and both...
I picked up a 2025 EV6 GTL two weeks ago which has a NACS port. It also charges at Tesla SpCs, but the voltage difference means it maxes out at around 125kW. The charge curve also falls off a cliff around 60% SOC. It’s nice to have this capability but if EA is available and working it’s better.
I did this well over a year ago so it may no longer work.. ymmv
Tell the Tesla app you have a car that has SpC access but doesn’t support Plug and Charge. Pull the cable from the pedestal before you manually activate the session.
Nice setup! I have a similar config but I am using three Gen 2 Tesla HPWCs. They also load balance but require a 4-pair cable for communication between them. The wifi capability of the gen 3’s make it much simpler, not to mention the reporting capabilities. When these fail I’ll likely replace...
Got it. This I don’t know. I’ve got the color one and that’s what I put back on. I did have to order a new rear emblem (the Taycan and model insignia) as it was very fragile and snapped when it was removed. Porsche checked the VIN and would only sell the correct one for my car.
Are you talking about the wheel crests? The monochrome ones are standard. The colorized are extra. I keep colored on my summer wheels and monochrome on my winter wheels. The colored are an option when you order the wheels. I’m sure suncoast and others sell them.
In an ideal world, pricing should be in per kWh, not time. This is the most cost following. In some locations this is not possible due to antiquated laws.
I fully support idle time fees priced by the minute after a 5 minute grace period. Besides being ICE’d, nothing is more annoying than being...
A charging network based solely, or primarily on dealer locations, will be inadequate.
I’m I think the EA model can work, but they need better management and investment.
I have interest in a ST Turbo but it appears Porsche has decided not to bring it to the US. I currently have a Turbo and can’t imagine going “down” to the 4S; not that it isn’t a great car, but once you get used to the power of a Turbo…
So it seems my only option is a CT Turbo, which may be...
