Haha...I'm scared to ask how you know. But you are definitely exacerbating my fears because, no, you can't tell the Tesla charger (like you can the PMCC) what to push, and yes, I figured the Taycan wouldn't "know" what circuit is behind the Tesla Gen 2 charger.
One of my main concerns is that, even with the 80amp TeslaTap adapter, my Tesla Gen 2 is currently on a 60amp circuit (so effective 48amps). Since (a) my Taycan has a 19.2KWh (e.g. 80amps) onboard charger and (b) The Tesla Gen 2 is capable of pushing out 80amps, then I'm wondering if it's...
Great idea! That's enough reason for me to get an 80amp adapter. By the way, I found the video. It wasn't on Youtube. He doesn't mention the 19.2KWh charger specifically but he does review the adapter and references the 80amp option...
Has anyone tried this for their Taycan (assuming you have the upgraded 19.2KWh onboard charger)? I have a Tesla Gen 2 charger in my garage for my Tesla. I got it off of Ebay for the longer hose (their new Gen 3 charger has a shorter hose and can only output 48amps which is all the later model...
Interestingly enough, I happened to get the previous generation L2 Tesla wall connector (Gen 2) off of Ebay because I wanted the longer cord. It can push out up to 80amps, unlike Tesla's latest L2 charger, that only does 48amps. Unfortunately, my electrician just followed latest Tesla...
Just to give everyone an update (as original poster): I got a call at 4PM yesterday that the part came in. The dealer said 4 of them arrived that day. My post-mortem analysis is that there was a batch of Taycans that were waiting for the PMCCs at the European port and they didn't want to hold...
***UPDATE***
I just got off the phone with the largest Porsche dealership (Champion in FL). Spoke to a very nice guy in parts. Initially he said it was fishy and that they didn't have that problem at their dealership. Once he checked his system for the part, he did a 180. Turns out they...
I couldn't agree with you more. This is the exact phrase I used. And you are on to something in that the supply chain didn't have any room for failure because Porsche didn't anticipate that dealers would pass along the part and they didn't think to make sure there was a surplus of PMCC up...
Hello everyone. I just took delivery of our Taycan 4s on Saturday and I'm loving it so far. While I was waiting for admin approval for my forum registration I have been browsing the posts here and have already learned so much useful information.
There is one topic that I haven't seen posted...
