  1. Another OTA Update Today! - Music Streaming

interesting. Has this been confirmed? I must have confused something I read for the Taycan and not the Macan then I guess.
  2. Another OTA Update Today! - Music Streaming

Unfortunately, I find that very unlikely. The new Taycans presumably run the same Android Automotive OS found in the new Macan and what is probably a completely different hardware architecture compared to the current Taycan. Secondly, videos on the passenger screen requires the ability to...
  3. Difference between 2020 Taycan and a 2023 Taycan

There was an infotainment hardware (MCU) upgrade in 2021/2022 I believe.
  4. Extreme Winter Driving pros and cons with Taycan

That Taycan is great on snow for the type of vehicle it is, but it’s no off-roader. Its biggest limitation is ground clearance, and the lack of a low friction launch mode (at least on my non-CT Taycan) is also a minor downside. I wouldn’t say the Taycan is suited for “extreme” winter driving ;)
  5. Spotify, Apple Music + Podcast gone after latest update

Got my car back from the dealer after a heater replacement. The dealer updated software as well, including (it seems) the PCM (see picture). However, now all third party media sources are completely gone. Did the two finger reboot procedure too without any luck. Anyone on the same software...
  6. Heater broken. My turn.

Quick update. I showed up at my dealer this morning. They took the car in and replaced the heater within 4-5 hours. Good to go now. According to them, Porsche is doing a gradual recall based on a guesstimate of when cars will have heater failures. Recalling all vehicles at once isn’t really...
  7. Heater broken. My turn.

I remember my dealer mentioning heater issues back in January and how they presumed a full recall would be done shortly due to new heater units with the fix for whatever the issue was being made available. Apparently that never happened. My heater just died on my way back down from the ice cold...
  8. Wireless iPhone Charging - phone overheats in glove box!

I’ve tried the charger with multiple Android phones without issue, so I suspect there’s just an alignment issue specific to the current iPhone design (iPhone 12+). The Straight Pipes YouTube video also mentioned Porsches claim that Apple doesn’t properly implement the Qi standard which also...
  9. Steering wheel cleaning

It’s pretty easy to get the race tex steering wheel back to mint condition. Here’s my process. 1 - Clean the steering wheel with a microfiber cloth dipped in luke warm water with some mild laundry detergent. Scrub it gently. 2 - Use a new cloth with luke warm clean water and give the wheel...
  10. AC Eco in Range mode.

So, in the PCM you can configure the range mode settings, including what AC mode to use when the car is in Range mode. (Defaults to Eco). You’ll then see the AC switch to the desired operating state when you switch to range mode while driving. However, in my experience this only happens if you...
  11. First few days of ownership...

Battery preconditioning takes a long time. Hence, a departure timer must be used if you want to ensure optimal battery temperature before departure. That said, if the car in parked indoors and connected to power you’ll generally find the battery at around 25c degrees. If you’re parked outside AC...
  12. First few days of ownership...

Battery preconditioning helps a lot with initial trip consumption.
  13. GTS Sport Turismo range was much more than initially indicated/expected on long drive!

My argument would be that driving smoothly at a constant speed is significantly more efficient than stop-and-go driving at the same speed. Brake recuperation preserves some of the kinetic energy lost but doesn’t offset the subsequent need for energy to get back up to speed.
  14. GTS Sport Turismo range was much more than initially indicated/expected on long drive!

So what is your argument exactly? That stop/go driving on country roads is more efficient than smooth motorway driving at speeds below 60mph?
  15. Easee chargers seem to have a security issue

I’m very skeptical of what Swedish authorities have cooked up here. If we put aside the fact that Easee’s main competitors are Swedish companies (who’s stock prices have gone through the roof after this debacle) the case made for stopping Easee sales is pretty thin. Easee has sold more than 700...
  16. Storage for year or more

Keep it plugged in at 50% SoC
  17. GTS Sport Turismo range was much more than initially indicated/expected on long drive!

I disagree. Range mode is more than suspension lowering and motor decoupling. The cooling air flaps and ride height (22 mm lower) are adjusted for minimum drag. Air conditioning, hydraulic pumps, including the coolant pump, air suspension and headlights also operate in their most efficient...
  18. GTS Sport Turismo range was much more than initially indicated/expected on long drive!

Which, incidentally is why the Taycan coasts instead of recuperates by default. :)
  19. Reverse Engineering the Sport Sound Module

Totally agree. It’s probably the most significant thing Tesla has accomplished which has really taken the rest of the automotive industry by surprise. Complete unified vertical integration from hardware to software is a massive advantage, reducing cost and complexity and seriously eases updates...
  20. GTS Sport Turismo range was much more than initially indicated/expected on long drive!

Simply not true. Brake regeneration is fine but doesn’t offset the need for acceleration to get back up to speed. Hypermiling is all about driving smooth for as much time as possible.
