I have a 21 Taycan 4S. I’ve historically used either the Porsche charger which came with the car but mostly a Clipper Creek 64A charger.
Using the Clipper Creek charger, my car has almost always charged at around 10.5kw (48A). The Porsche unit was a max 40A unit and the car charged slower...
well, one year later from my original note above and four years on from buying the car, I still do NOT have a working charger.
this time last year, I just gave up fighting with Porsche who flatly refused to replace the defective charger. I’d already purchased a different one. The dealer never...
agreed
I do have another brand of charger at a second home and it works fine.
I was about to purchase a new one for this home but held up when Porsche advised they had the replacement part. Figured I’d at least allow them a chance to demonstrate viability. We’ll see what today’s visit...
Had my Porsche charger cable and software updated yesterday under the recall. Got home and immediately get a fault stating the device is temperature is too low. It’s nearly one hundred degrees where I am and the charger itself shows a temp of about one hundred and five degrees. This fault...
Further update - just heard back from a local dealer who insists the correct cable and update is available for my car (2021 4S with the PMCC). They say they’ve done at least four of these now without issues.
We’ll see in a couple of weeks when we’re scheduled to get the work done.
that is almost certainly what we’ll do. Strange that the old charger has worked near flawlessly for three years until we unplugged to take it to the dealer. Now it conks out within an hour of starting a charge session.
We’ll be moving within the year and was hoping to avoid hard wiring one to...
Need confirmation - are the replacement plugs available and is the software update for the chargers also available ?
One dealer had me bring in the car and charger a couple of weeks ago because they insisted the replacement cables were available. They didn;t do the replacement after all and...
Has anyone tried suing Porsche in small claims court at least for a refund for their charger ? Cost is minimal. My understanding is a corporation must provide a lawyer to argue the case. We’ve used this technique a few times over the years and it can work. It’s often not worth the...
That makes sense given the charge rate on the dealer video. It’s surprising the dealer shared that solution knowing my issues were with the DC charging at EA. Guess the improvement I saw going to 100kw rates was due to other factors.
Couldn’t get a video to upload here. It’s in the charging menu and you need to adjust the general profile.
- charging menu
- profiles / adjust general profile
- adjust minimum charge (drag) to max of 80%
- enable general charging profile
the video the dealer sent me showed what must be a demo...
All
an interesting update on my charging issues these past 5-6 months. We continued to experience super slow charge rates at EA. I was about to take the car to the dealer for recalls and some other issues when suddenly the A/C died.
The dealer mentioned two things. First, there is a...
We do not have the 19.2kw option unfortunately. We do have the 150kw 400v DC option and the 93kwh battery. There are apparently three service recalls for this car which we'll have done shortly. No idea if any address whatever issues we are having.
thanks
thanks - typically, the car is conditioned. I've had these issues regardless of outdoor temperature or how long I've driven it before a charging session. I've understood the variables that go into rate of charge and try to not let those be a factor.
Thanks also for the tip on displaying...
How I envy you all if you’re having good experiences with EA.
My 2021 is having a miserable time with EA Initially, I was able to get super high charge rates although quite a few stations were problematic and often did not work at all. Lots of finer pointing between Porsche and EA and...
The EA network is absolutely awful. I’ve rarely had a successful experience, been stranded for a weekend during a long distance trip and have spent so many hours on the phone with EA trying to resolve charging issues. They’re very good at apologies and occasionally acknowledge their network...
for what it's worth:
- we paid about $2K total in one home for the Clipper Creek HCS80 unit and an electrician to wire up a subpanel, two 80A breakers (one on main and another on the subpanel) with about 50 ft of at least 4ga Aluminum.
- At our other home, which required 130 ft of wire...
I may be missing the obvious but what are the formal specs of your Tesla charger - as opposed to what the electrician configured it for as well as the wiring that was used ? Also, what is the maximum size Tesla tap available (not sure if they have one rated above 80A) ?
To a large degree, if...
Further update - my salesman at one dealer finally responded but still can't get the service rep at my home dealership to respond. My goodness, responsivity and follow up just isn't there at Porsche. The Porsche Connect group are even more of a black hole.
As you've all stated, the strip...
Does anyone know what this option is / does ? It came with my Taycan but we cannot figure out what this option is. I've asked two dealers (my salesman and a different dealer where we actually reside) and cannot get an answer. They just don't seem to know or can't be bothered following it...
