  1. PPF Lessons learned

PPF makes as much financial sense as buying a Taycan. But then a meal in a Michelin starred restaurant makes no financial sense when it comes to how you put calories in your body, however, I still eat in them from time to time.
  2. Battery Problems and no Replacement Vehicle ??

My car’s just been in for a heater replacement. It was one of a number with the dealership in a queue for the modified part so the timescale estimate was 3 weeks. Within 24 hours of contacting Prorsche Assist, my car had been collected (The broken heater meant I could not de-mist the car and so...
  3. Trickle Charger for Taycan 12v battery?

I left my car at home for two months whilst away. It was plugged in to my wall charger and sat there happily at around 55%. By the time I got home the main battery charge had dropped to 54%. I thought that the batteries simply lost charge over time but perhaps they topped up the 12v system. 🤷‍♂️...
  4. £5000 off a new Taycan.

I waited 15 months for my Turbo, spent hours on the configurator and was delighted when it finally arrived last December. But I was warned by many naysayers that it was a financial disaster waiting to happen. I had a 6% finance offer, which I took. I didn’t need the finance but the option to...
  5. Sports Sound Variation

Oh, so it’s actually a mechanical change that is fed through the system, not something artificial. That makes sense. But why would the tone also change when switching to range mode?
  6. Sports Sound Variation

Anyone else notice a change in pitch with the sports sound when switching to Sport mode. Makes it feel like the car’s dropped down a gear like with an ICE car switching to Sports mode. I really like it.
  7. Are used high milage Taycans worth looking at?

You might be right. I was just thinking that the upper and lower ‘unusable’ battery capacities are permanent i.e. they won’t be ‘released’ for use as the battery degrades so as to maintain range. I think this was what was being suggested by the contributor I was responding to.
  8. Are used high milage Taycans worth looking at?

The buffers are there to protect the battery from significant damage at the high and low points. I don’t see what difference the degradation of the battery makes to this. If you have a brand new battery, you need the buffers to protect it and if it’s degraded, you need the buffers to prevent...
  9. .5 inch sag in LR

Might be due to the weight on that side. Could be down to where to 12v battery is located. I had this on a five series once and that was the explanation I was given.
  10. Too many Taycans for sale??

I once bought a 2 year old BMW 7 series with 18,000 miles for 50% of its list price. This idea that you can pay £100k plus for a car, stick 30,000 miles on it and 3 years later get your money back (with little warranty for the next owner) is mad. Of course, there’s been a new car shortage, so...
  11. To Timer or not to Timer

Set up your home charging profile to 60%. Then, when you get home and plug in, your battery will be topped up to that level. Then set your timer for Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:15 a.m. Charge to 75% on these days. That should be plenty. The nice thing with this is that the batteries...
  12. Vehicle in Production but App not updated. Delivery forecast? How close to the date on the system?

I started tracking ships on-line with no idea if my car was on one of them. I feel your pain!
  13. Taycan Turbo vs Audi E-Tron S Prestige

Interesting. To me, these are completely different vehicles. I didn’t buy my Taycan because I was bothered about range or practicality. If those are the priority then an ICE vehicle or a Tesla are the answer (Tesla for it’s charging network) But it seems others see it differently. Is that...
  14. Vehicle in Production but App not updated. Delivery forecast? How close to the date on the system?

Yes, I got everything I asked for. It’s spot on. If you’re worried, ask the dealer to send you the spec on their system. It’s the same system that Porsche use so should be exactly what they’ve built
  15. Chalk beige interior

It looks beige to me. Crayon doesn’t have any beige in it but chalk does. Well, compared to Crayon anyway. I think I’d but chalk with Mahogany or Cherry.
  16. Vehicle in Production but App not updated. Delivery forecast? How close to the date on the system?

My experience. I ordered the car in October 2021. My app sat at stage 1. Then in May 2022 the dealer told me they had a build slot for me. They seemed as shocked as I was. Delivery date August 2022. Shortly after, the app jumped to stage 3. I locked my spec on the very last day that I could...
  17. Porsche Says One-Pedal Driving In EVs Isn't Efficient

I drove an iPace for three years before I replaced it the my TST. I loved the one pedal driving in the iPace and was a little concerned when I read up on Porsche’s approach. Having experimented a little, I now drive in the auto mode when in traffic on A roads and let the car decide when to...
  18. I charge to 75% at just 5.7kw, and I don't even notice the difference

When I plug in my car at home my battery is charged to 60%. Then I pop a timer into the app for the next time I plan to use the car again and it’s charged to between 75% and 85% depending on my needs (normally 75%) That way the battery spends most of its life at 60%. it certainly doesn’t...
  19. Taycan is a Sports Car

I have an Aston Martin Vanquish for the weekend and a Taycan Turbo ST for my every(other)day car. Both have 4 seats. (The AM seats are next to useless) Neither is therefore (imo) a pure sports car. The Aston is a Grand Tourer and the Porsche is a Sporty Estate Car. The reason AM offer the...
