Not so over here. Insurance is to cover unforeseen events. Adding a high amp charger circuitry that’s not been certified or installed by a qualified person that subsequently causes a major fire then you are on your own.
But there are two insurances at play here...
The house insurance and the...
It really - it’s a safety issue. If the car can’t immediately and safely dump all the current to ground then it could be bad.
It’s not the chargers fault and probably go away if not using the extension cable.
The fact Tesla’s works fine doesn’t mean it’s better... it just probably means that...
Need to remember that there is virtually no upper buffer on Tesla’s now. Its one way they magically unlocked performance and also why they appear to be ahead on range.
Agreed - it’s somehow as if the electricity is better over one brands charger!
The standards are exactly that - standard.
Some chargers have additional management features but aside from that should be a muchness.
Now yes, some are a bit fussier and will trip a charging a sessions more than...
I think in general the bottom buffer is slightly bigger as you are very much correct that too close to zero is instant battery death. Some Tesla roadster owners had a nasty shock when leaving their cars at the airport for 2 weeks and coming back to a dead car a $30k bill not covered by...
I know the manual however recommending 85% day to day is a world away from
That is just scaremongering.
the turbo s battery pack is 93.4 kWh with 83.7kwh - so full charge wont even go to 90%.
It's not a tesla though so 100% isn't really 100% - there's always a top buffer and this drastically reduces the impact of having the battery fully charged
Personally I am used to a smidge of engine braking and I found the coasting quite disconcerting sometimes. When I switched the mode on the regen it was perfect for me.
For a car requiring and engine to crank, yes pretty small but for a 12v system
Assuming it’s fully charged (and not faulty) that 60AH battery should easily last 12 hours with a 3 amp load with a decent safety margin. That’s a reasonable load.
It’s not doing something stupid like tripping the...
Had something similar on a different car and had to put amp meters on all the fuses let the car go to sleep and then monitor. One of them spiked and it turned out to be a duff controller.
As above - it really has to be something quite significant to drain a 12v battery. Mobile communication...
Looks to me as if it slid sideways into high curb collapsing the left side wheels suspension. The other side no where near as much damage and might be sitting funny due the left side suspension collapsed
Do you know how big capacity the 12v battery is? Just thinking that 24 hours to go dead is quite some load (assuming it is a reasonable size)
The one thing (as a software guy) that is standing out is the sequence of app tweaks during a charge. The one thing that would definitely cause this kind...
All capacitors leak. Some more than others but it is not indefinite
Ironically, yes have worked on old crt tv’s. Yes a long time but not forever.
Energy density is laughable compared to lithium ion battery tech.
What is likely however is a hybrid - batteries are better storage but don’t like...
When the car is ‘off’ the 800v battery is isolated. The 12v system is used to power the ECU’s which trigger the various relays to connect the high voltage battery.
Couldn’t use a capacitor as they don’t hold their charge for very long compared to a conventional battery.
Ok - be good to confirm what charger connector is being used. With Type2 in Europe the protocol has some nifty data over power line comms where as this seems really straightforward using voltage drops to signal required ac current.
Not sure if this simple protocol would allow the charger to show...
I’m guessing as don’t have any info so will need to check.
But a charger has an initial 12v feed so that the car and charger can negotiate on charging protocol.
What if on the faulty charger it stops this 12v once it switches over to supplying high voltage? The cars Ecu needs to be powered to...
