  1. Glad to be done with Porsche and Taycan

I'll second I-Pace and throw in the Audi E-Tron GT (the sister car). Yes same basics but different in tuning and interior/infotainment. It has a few quirks (some parallel to Porsche) but my experience with Audi overall has been positive over the years.
  2. Someone Educate Mustang Block E Drivers!

One reason not all chargers are 350 is I am guessing the cooling hardware is much more significant at 350 rate than at 150. And with so few cars hitting and maintaining greater than 150 right now it’s an economic hard sell.
  3. Honest feedback required - does the Taycan work as a luxury car?

As someone who went from a Taycan to E-Tron I came to second this. For a more relaxed luxury car the Audi fits the bill more.
  4. 150kW DC-DC converter option

This has been said before but another way to look at the 150 KW/400 v charging option, assuming it is your car and you will keep it for a while and/or resell it rather than a lease, is the "insurance" view. Hey you may never use it, but if something changes (Tesla does open its superchargers and...
  5. I'm the idiot whose Taycan was towed after running the SOC to 0%

I just wanted to say no you have done no damage to the battery. The poor range is from the last trip in accounting probably for the cold and elevation changes. You will see it return to normal after driving in flatter and warmer terrains. you don’t want to leave the battery at 0 or 100 for long...
  6. Taycan 4S vs Audi e-tron GT review

Its funny as someone who had both I must be one of the very few people who didn't mind the Taycan climate control display, in fact I think I preferred it to the Audi buttons...
  7. Burmester Audio System

So I would guess that some of the "width" comes from the shape of the E-Tron vs the more slopping cabin of the Taycan. I know the B&O in the Etron GT doesn't sound as good as my Burmeister did on the Taycan, and it doesn't sound any wider nor deeper, that is why I wonder if its because of...
  8. Would you buy your Taycan again?

I had one, switch to Audi which I prefer. But I would definitely have by a Taycan again as the car is incredible.
  9. Matrix headlights approved!

So the regulation is about to be released, Porsche had stated they could enable Matrix headlights via firmware if rules changed. I hope they do. https://apnews.com/article/coronavirus-pandemic-technology-business-health-congress-761cac7ae30a03ab6a399b9676ae44bb
  10. Transitioning from Taycan to Etron GT

I drove the RWD Taycan on a Porsche event day, having driven my TTS to the event. I do have to say for the few quick laps we did I thought it felt much more "fun" at least to me. It wasn't as fast, but that's not the only criteria. Only reason I wouldn't pick it for a daily driver is I...
  11. Transitioning from Taycan to Etron GT

So a quick update I thought may be of interest here. I picked up my RS Etron GT in november in the mid-atlantic and had ordered the Audi winter tire and wheel set in November. I was informed that it would arrive in the spring (hah!) so I cancelled and went with plan B. I replaced the LRR...
  12. Fifth Gear: Recharged. Taycan v RS Etron GT

Am I the only one confused on which 911 he is driving, the 2WD or the 4WD? I mean in the rain that would make a bit of difference. So far I am not very impressed with fifth gear lately, important information missing, and outright misstatements sometimes...
  13. SOH of battery of my Taycan 4S 93kWh battery after 30.000 km

Yes it is, the buffer is not included in the use/range calculations. It is simply there to protect the battery and insure longevity.
  14. Porsche Intelligent Range Manager

I may be wrong (and our Canadian friends can educate us) but I believe there is something similar along main highway in Canada, no?
  15. Fifth Gear: Recharged. Taycan v RS Etron GT

Biased In the sense that they were not accurate. Watch the Chris Harris Top Gear drive of the RS ETron when he is in dynamic and ESP off and he is sliding with full power and no nannies cutting anything (he has full tire spin and control) and the driver of the RS ETron kept saying how the car is...
  16. Fifth Gear: Recharged. Taycan v RS Etron GT

As someone who has owned both I subscribed to watch and oh boy. I was not impressed. They don't seem to actually be very knowledgeable about the cars. Forgetting the opinion portion (I personally prefer the overall balance of the drive of the RS Etron GT for what it is) and the interior the...
  17. Bizarre 'whistleblower' claims “60% of all delivered Taycan have battery issues that caused replacements, damages and fires”

I am not being argumentative but yes I am serious. Electrical failures is general category, some were from the 12v battery drain downs, which confused the electronics. There were issues with "traction" fault which had to do with commUnitarian with rear drivetrain, but again not main traction...
  18. Bizarre 'whistleblower' claims “60% of all delivered Taycan have battery issues that caused replacements, damages and fires”

i have been on this forum for two years and had one of the first taycan on the east coast. I don’t recall any number of traction battery replacements, which are you referring to? the main issues were software related faults that were addressed.
  19. 2020 Turbo needs a new high power battery

Hmmm both those numbers look suspect. If taycan can take 85 KW usable charge then 98 would imply a LOT of loss or other filling/heating process. Same with 78 KW, that is almost 10% loss which again seems suspect. What is measuring the power delivered?
  20. Not another battery degradation thread…quite…

I can tell you that when I test drove RS Audi ETron (same basic drivetrain) that only had 25% battery sitting at dealer (which honestly was a good thing not to keep a car sitting at full charge that was not going to be driven, they were not allowing test drives) it was less punchy than when it...
