2023 model I have (CT4) is pretty flawless SW wise, 8 months of ownership and only minor issues:
- 2-3 times the PCM was stuck (and only 1 time I had to let it sit for some time to unblock), rest just 2 finger reset worked flawless
- 2 times PCM touch functionality gone until restart of car...
I5 is outdated tech on release, battery and motors based on i4, which is 400v architecture and just 81-82kwh net. i owned the i4 M50 and made the switch to Taycan 4 CT and never regretted even for a second
Get a black gloss rim paint and a small brush, plenty of $20 packages online. And paint it simply. No one will ever see. Once you plan to sell or have much more damage you can do a professional repair all rims at once. So basically it’s nothing
Truth is Chinese manufacturers are really stepping up the game and cost/performance wise are becoming crazy good. The top ones like Geely with Zeekr001 and the Lotus Eletre (also Geely essentially), as well as the new refreshed Polestar 2 with many optimisations and tweaks (the Performance...
As many have answered - don’t trust the guessometer. Just charge 100%, reset trip counter and see how much kWh you’ve used up / km driven until 0% (or close to). Or if you don’t have the time for this- just drive constant speed 60mph/100kmh on calm day (to avoid wind effect ) and see you average...
it shows which motor is currently engaged. in this case rear.
this has been most likely removed in newer firmware updates, as I've for one never seen this screen either in the 4CT (which is dual motor)
It will probably level out indeed. If you see sticker prices of new EVs for which there is no secondary market yet, you will cry.
BMW i5 M60 costing 108K no options. And it’s inferior 400V architecture and smaller battery (85kwh gross, 81 net).
New Chinese cars (Polestar3, Zeekr1, etc)...
This is way more than regular depreciation. If you check 4-5 year old Panamera (E-hybrid or normal), they are still selling for 60% original sticker (in NL you can look up original fiscal value, maybe other countries as well).
Where taycans from 2020-2021 (so 2-3 year old cars) are selling...
great that’s essentially very close to my calculations; almost 0 cost first 2-3 years then higher costs, but on average it’s very reasonable over 5 year span.
What’s the ballpark figure for insurances in the UK?
20K miles seems reasonable, that’s 32K km and I drive 15K km per year only, hence the ratio seems in proportion. Have you guys seen the new EV specific performance tyres from Hankook? The ION Ventus Evo S. supposedly A rated for sound, consumption and even rain
Just deciding whether to keep the CT4 long(er) term, and curious what are your (average) annuzalized or total running costs so far?
Meaning everytthing to sustain the car in good shape, make all the regular dealer service intervals, change tyres, any additional years of bought warranty, etc
So...
Great review. I’m at 4700km and roughly 3 months into ownership. Taycan CT4 here. Very similar thoughts.
- pcm manual reset counter: 1 time
- pcm completely stuck on boot and had to leave the car and come back later for it to reset: 1 time also
- other pcm issues: on some occasion iPhone into...
you can get up to 6.5% overall (maybe someone got higher, but I am not aware)
plus you can get much more on dealer installed options (i.e. like audio upgrade, etc)
Cant compare to a Taycan with it, but I can tell you the Taycan without RAS turns tighter than the BMW i4 M50 (which i still have and drive occasionally). Today I was making same manoeuvres at the parking lot at the office, and the bmw couldn’t make same turns I do with the non RAS Taycan...
For sure there will be update(s), but as the functionality and stability matures, these will not be major releases. Unless Porsche decides a UI/UX refresh across the range
I put mine on high or lift when entering residential areas (the ones with nasty bumps). What you can also do is hit gravel mode - it will lift right to high (if you need this super quick) or hotkey the lift mode.
Depends which model and if you bought under MSRP. If you buy the mid-spec base CT, I'm sure it'll hold value like crazy. Got mine 1 day before the price increase (March one) and with another price increase imminent (4%-8% as stated), plus the dealer discount I got, probably looking at...
