Hi Friends,
I’m driving upstate NY, to Lake George and then Lake Placid - from NYC. Probably my longest journey - so far. I see a couple of ChargePoint EV and 1 Electrify America. Do I need the charging gear in my car ? (as I tend to leave that bag home for optimizing the trunk/frunk space). Also any suggestions on this route ? Thanks :)

There are two Electrify America stations on your way up off of 87.
  1. Newburgh (Walmart) - All stations generally work
  2. Albany (Walmart) - was showing that some are out, but majority still working
There are plenty of other DC fast charging stations on the way up, i.e. every service plaza. These are just 50kw. Once you get past Albany, look for Stewarts that have DC Fast charging, I think EvolveNY has a partnership with them.

In town, you're likely to depend on L2.

Stop by Saratoga Auto Museum on the way up and get a L2 top up while you're there.

If your destination has a charger, you can skip bringing your own. (I always have mine in the hidden boot space). Bring a TeslaTap or equivalent just in case you want to top up at a Tesla destination charger.

Should you happen to need P service, Clifton I think is the closest.
