I didn't look specifically, but am not sure there's anywhere for it to go once it's popped off. Mine have always been resting under the cupholder and easy to see (the final two in the front holder broke off last week, now fixed).

I'd recommend putting glue on all of them to lessen the risk of it happening again.

As for the noise, maybe add a small amount of silicon spray to the spring bit and outside of the prong.

I suspect this happens with metal water bottles when full and put in at an angle. Still a crap design though.
Thank you for the recommendation. Sounds like the noise varies depending on the material of the cup that I use. I don't think the silicone would fix. If I press it with my fingers it does not make a sound.

And yes, crap design haha.

I have a Yeti tumbler I use often full of water and I’ve noticed they’re noisy but haven’t seen a spring fail yet. Of course, now that I’ve said it I’m sure it’ll happen to me.

I have noticed that the cup holder doesn’t grasp things in there as good as other vehicles, and items that don’t fit the holder entirely seem to lean or vibrate a lot. Either that or this car is super quiet that you notice the tiniest noises immediately when they surface.

I am pretty sure the issue what with the rambler mug 14oz, which is thicker. It is a very tight fit.

I had been using the Tumbler for coffee for months and had not have an issue.

Fortunately I solved it by buying another cupholder plastic part for $30 bucks and replacing the piece. Looks like new now. Won't use the mug anymore.
