Greetings all,

I (as myriad other members) am on the fence regarding gentian blue vs. chalk on my upcoming GTS allocation. I'm pretty heavily leaning towards gentian blue but I've read various accounts of how difficult it is to maintain. I do intend on getting PPF (front end) and full ceramic coating, but I don't want to get a color that will be as difficult to maintain as my black 911...which is a hassle to say the least. All inputs are welcome!

I went Gentian - love that it changes colour depending on the light - it will be a labour of love!

For the best protection and lowest maintenance: full body PPF with GTECHNIQ HALO ceramic coating. (HALO is vinyl specific) My car is a breeze to clean with this package.

Keep in mind paint chipping/damage will occur at the lower portion of the rear doors, and any forward facing surfaces including glass and headlights. I've experienced glass chips on glass roofs before.

I thought about getting a full PPF but 1) I'd rather keep that extra cost for protection below 4k as I already extended my budget to upgrade from a 4S to a GTS and 2) this car will be my daily so I wont be as anal about the cosmetics as I would if it was a fun car.
How bad are the chips on the rear doors? I haven't experienced any bad chips on the rear "hips" of my 911 so I suspect I'll see similar small nicks on the Taycan. Those don't bother me. The road debris and deeper rock chips on the front do bother me though.

Paint correction and ceramic will keep the budget in check and the paint looking great.

@detansinn what are your PPF/ceramic plans for your upcoming Taycan? I've followed your 992 exploits on rennlist and was quite shocked that you decided to trade it in for a Taycan.

Thanks!
I’m planning some significant road tripping in the Taycan. So, it’s going to be front PPF and ceramic. I skipped PPF with the Aventurine Green, but fine with it for Gentian Blue.

The EV switch shocked some folks, but when I realized that I was more interested in taking our Mini EV for a weekend spin than the 911, I realized that it was time for a change. With the exception of my Alfa 4C Spider, we’re going full EV with our household.

@detansinn I love to hear it. Honestly I was looking at getting a 992 as my new DD but after some deliberation realized there's little utility in 2 911's, so my attention shifted to the Taycan as the Panamera is too large for my taste. I've really never had much interest in EV's prior to the Taycan but now I can't wait to experience how different it's going to be. The GTS will be my DD so I'll be doing some significant roadtripping myself. I look forward to reading your escapades in the future!

Also, to get back to the topic: definitely concur with the front PPF and ceramic on the whole car. I'll have to start shopping installers when my allocation is finalized.
