Sorry if someone has already asked this, new to Taycan ownership ! I want to connect my IPod Classic to my Taycan and listen to music. I bought a 30pin to USB C and connected to the car and nothing happened apart from it charging - is it possible or am I expecting to much backwards compatibility ?
Thanks for any help

I went thru this recently in a similar situation in a different vehicle. I don't believe it's possible to have audio go over the 30-pin to USB-c. The cable can provide charging power to your iPod, but nothing else. I think for this reason, Apple doesn't make such a cable.

I ended up going with a bluetooth transmitter and that has been working fine, but a little extra step to get the bluetooth to pair.

There is a digital audio signal on the 30 pin but it isn't connected to USB.
Many years ago a hifi company called Wadia made an adapter but that had a phono SPDIF outlet also not compatible with any modern car input.
I just put my iPod music on a USB stick and use that.

To add to @f1eng excellent answer above. ^^^

The only way I'm aware that you can still use the "iPod mode" on the PCM is to plug in an iPhone. If you are connecting the iPhone using bluetooth to the native PCM support (i.e. not using CarPlay), then the Music app on the phone is capable of presenting itself to the PCM as an iPod.

But you can only access music that is downloaded (no streaming) to the Music app on the phone. However, if you have downloaded Apple Lossless to the phone – you will get the full CD quality via the iPod mode. Certainly much higher quality than bluetooth. So this mode – still has merit if you prefer to not use CarPlay. At least, that's the thinking.
