So... I haven't pulled the trigger yet on the 2025 Taycan yet.. Still very interested and ready to buy but not really getting great sales assistance which has me still lacking confidence in taking the plunge. The dealerships I have been talking to in the Northeast have limited (none) availability on a new build before the end of the year and little visibility on what allocations they are going to get for 2025 which gives me little reason to commit. It all seems to be this odd game of buy what is on the lot or do a build out and hope you get your car in Q1... I have some specific things i am looking for (PAR, fit and finish) and don't really want to be saddled with a boring color and expensive options i have no interest in and lack of the ones i do want.

I also read recently about the drop in forecasts for the Taycan this year and inspired some fresh questions...

Anyone have experience in how to find a dealership that might have an allocation for a customized order sooner than other dealerships? I'd be willing to drive a few hours or more away if i could get the car i order 2 months quicker then my local dealer... How do i know who could get me one quicker?

Separately has Porsche started providing incentives on the 2025 edition yet? I know they are discounting last years inventory that is sitting on lots... Might be a little early on incentives for the new ones but how far off could they be if the volume is dropping yoy.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I would definitely wait for discounts next year. The cars are sitting and previous generation Taycan owners are afraid of getting killed on the depreciation again.

Don't forget before Covid Taycans were being discounted. Porsche is going to make excuses why they can't build more, but that doesn't change the fact that demanded is weak.

There aren't that many Porsche dealers around you so I would contact them by filing out your information on an inventory car, then start building relationships with them.
On my car I had a list of over 50 dealers. One of them will play ball

Thanks. This is where i am leaning. Did you just reach out to them all via the dealer website or did you go in? I have been into two different dealerships and there is a third one i haven't yet.. Literally the first two just said "we don't have what you want and dont have an allocation available, do you want to place an order?" One followed up two weeks later and just asked "did you buy yet?". I can't imagine this type of service closes the deal on a $100k+ car... or maybe i am the crazy one.

You do it online, get in their CRM system, let them keep reaching out to you. That's where an allocation or a deal might pop up.
You let them come to you once they have your information as an interested party.

Yes, This is the type of service you get. This is why I can't stand Porsche dealers, you owe them for giving them $100k, not the other way around.
People seem to like the no talk, just text approach. I don't mind it at first, but once I have my dealer, it's face to face and a handshake relationship.
You're just vetting them right now.

I heard allocations will be available Q1 of 2025

May I ask why you don't want an inventory car? Lots more leverage on those

Great advice. I tend to keep the car a long time. My model s is almost 12 years old….. I am particular about the color and some of the features. I don’t see it as a deal when they have a bunch of options I don’t want that they give me a deal on. I did a nationwide search for inventory cars with PAR and the larger battery and there were zero. I’ll keep looking and inquire on all the local dealer sites. If someone wants to sell a car. They’ll find me. Otherwise I’ll stay single. Inageee that spring there will be incentives including better finance rates….

I'm like you. Very particular about options and color. If I'm pay that much, I should get exactly what I want.

In terms of PAR, I believe it's a requirement

My advice is to be patient and get what you want. I do not know the current market conditions but based on what you are telling us, getting new build allocations is just as bad as 2 years ago when I (and most others) were going through the same process, which in my case was 8 months wait for an allocation that was a trade with another dealer and then 6 months to get the car built and delivered, so ended up with a MY23 in June of 2023. I agree that having a good relationship with a dealer is key in securing an allocation since they can trade them with other dealers. I have exceptional relationship with my dealer and happy to make an introduction, if you do not mind the distance or simply want to explore the market. Please feel free to PM me and ideally have your build code available.

My story was a lot of dead ends reaching out through Porsche finder or dealer website to internet sales. I started getting some genuine non canned answers when someone suggested I email the branch manager or sales manager. They have real skin in the game, and you can get a solid answer about availability before they source you to a sales associate.

Dealing with dealerships can be a pain. Have you thought about using a car broker? They might have better connections and could save you some headaches.
