Yeah I am aware of this and spoke with the good folks at Valentine who educated me on the best way to test when I first bought the car. So, like others in this thread, I am happy with the V1 G2 performance, if you're not maybe you should switch brands.
The only thing to be aware of - if you have the thermal/noise glass, it blocks radar except in the dotted area at the top.

I confirmed by going to a grocery store and comparing signal.

How is switching radar detector brands going to alleviate the signal reduction due to glass insulation?

I ended up going with a Uniden R8W and tested it on the trip to Colorado last week. It saved me a few times, and it was a bit noisy others. Thankfully the mute memory was fantastic, but my wife told me she doesn’t want it on her Defender permanently, so the cable I had originally purchased for it will be used to install it on the Taycan

Today I had to drop off the car at Porsche for a whistling noise that showed up post heater recall and I asked the SA if they would install the connector for me to the powered mirror and he said yes. I may do that, with my luck I will fumble something that will cost a lot of money to fix.

It would appear to be an isolated problem that's all I can summize. Enjoy the car i love mine.
Or perhaps it’s an insulated (glass) problem. ;)

If you’re happy with your radar detection performance, that’s all that matters - you are all set.

My car came with an old Escort Max CI 360 hardwired in. I have no idea how to update it but I think it works pretty well. I’ve never had a radar detector before so I don’t have a reference point, but it has prevented me from getting myself in trouble so far!

Has anyone tried V1 or any radar with insulated/thermal windshield? I have yet to find a good way to wire it, but before I do that I want to make sure it actually going to work

Lots of ways to wire it, I documented using existing dashcam pre-wire for it here:
https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/t...rd-party-dashcam-and-other-accessories.19743/

V1 works up in the corner by the mirror, definitely enough to be useful, but there is some signal attenuation on the rear and a little up front, as the insulation free dotted area is not big enough to give the V1 unobstructed "radar view". If you were to compare it against a car with non-insulated glass, that car would get earlier warnings (mostly on highways, like this 2.22 mile warning), and more precise arrows, but to get that with insulated glass you'd need a remote mounted radar detector (here is an example of a well integrated complete set of countermeasures on a Taycan, including radar detection and laser jamming).

Yes, it only works in the dotted area (and honestly, slightly less well than it does on non-thermal glass.)
