Taycan 4

I’m in the market for a Taycan 4s which is the base trim in Canada. A local dealer has imported a MY22 T4 which
I think is a rare beast and non existent in Canada.
I understood that a 4s is an AWD dual motor but he claims the 4 is a single motor AWD version.

Can anyone shed some light on this before I move forward.

The 4 is a all-wheel drive (what does he think the 4 stands for?) with a software detuned throttle map. The 4 and the 4S have the same hardware.

Dealers are the biggest morons. Glad you came here.
RWD (Taycan) is a single rear motor.
4 (Taycan 4) is a dual motor and all-wheel drive with rear and front motors.
EV motors are placed on the axles or wheels (3 or 4 motor setups).
There is no way to have a 4-wheel drive EV with a single motor!

Please share the window sticker, this will tell us exactly what you got, but we do not need proof it is a dual motor.

All I can say is if you live long enough - you will hear everything. This one is up there in absurdity.

I noticed the HP numbers to be the same for both the 4 and 4s at 400hp with the 4s having a temporary boost option to 560hp.
Is this correct?

Not correct. Please see the specs below for 4 vs. 4s for Gen 1 (2020-2024).
Note that you will see specs for Performance Battery (79kWh) vs. Plus (93.4kWh).
All Taycans have Launch Control Mode (not a temporary boost, only available from a stop).
Temporary Boost (Push to Pass) introduced with 2025+ models available starting with 4S and above.

Are you just using us for spec look up, these are all available?
Which one are you looking to buy, this way we can tell you all about it, given you share window sticker.
