Uniden - R8 Radar Detector - Did anyone install ?

hello,
as i understand Tycans have thermal and sound protection coating on the windows and windshield.

Did anyone install any radar detector on the windshield? does the windows block the signal?

I believe that’s only the case if you optioned that glass.

I do not have that glass and have my Uniden R7 mounted off the rear view mirror using a BlendMount solution, and haven’t had any issues with range.

I'm using a Valentine One Gen.2 and it works flawlessly.

I installed mine thru the upper lights in the car and it's mounted to the front windshield and I have zero problems.

Purchased the R8 because I was frustrated with upgrade cost of the V2 given I had many V1s over the years and have paid for multiple software upgrades. Needless to say after having the R8 for 2 days I returned the R8 and ordered a V2. Both had zero issues with the insulated glass when hardwired right above the rearview mirror. The R8 gave me many false signals and the plastic felt and looked cheap. The V2 on pictures I thought looked terrible, but in person is very nice and much better than the V1. I can tell you the insulated glass does block the signal for my office parking garage entrance.

I'm using a Valentine One Gen.2 and it works flawlessly.

Same here, the current version of the Valentine works just fine in the upper part of the window, left of the mirror.
