What does delivery term 'Allocation' mean?

Haven't got that far yet W, but in discussion it's clear that I have to accept any price increase. Which is expected TBH.

I am expecting a relatively high price hike - because how increasing EU/UK inflation - especially in raw materials.

We won't lock-out the spec until Feb-March ish - That's a bit earlier than usual because I have specified Custom Paint.
I'm guessing you don't have an actual allocation then, just waiting in the queue for an allocation and the dealer has an estimate when they think they will get it. My experience with that is dealers take a refundable deposit, or sometimes no deposit at all to get in that queue. It makes sense it's refundable, since there are no guarantees, price could go up above what you are willing to pay, some options you want may become unavailable, etc.
