this is concerning - very suspicious - plausible - and would be consistent with problems due to high operating temperatures of the PMC+/PMCC - but it's not "confirmed" as root cause is the PMC+/PMCC - it's a self reported consumer complaint posted as a concern for potential investigation…

we will of course leave it on this thread - but I'm choosing not to add it to post #1's list of PMC+/PMCC issues as it's "hearsay" at this point.

while this sort of thing would be consistent with the sorts of issues the PMC+/PMCC's power supply cable's operating temperature could lead to - there are other potential root cause scenarios that could lead to this outcome (wire's improperly terminated inside the NEMA socket for example).

this is concerning but not conclusive in my opinion - but very very plausible.

There are/were numerous complaints with these units, including a recall. This is the first I have heard of a wall fire. I would be very inquisitive as David has said - there are many potential issues that may have caused this fire.
Personally, I would have called the local FD and have them investigate what caused this issue instead of the easy answer of blaming the EVSE. Tooney is a well known forum contributor and his prior posts suggest that he is a responsible owner, user of his EV and its devices. Perhaps he has done this but does not have the report in hand at the time of his OP. Either way, perhaps the PSA is don't ever charge your car in your garage, unless it is detached from your main home. I don't and won't ever charge my EV in my garage. IMV, this is Russian roulette.
