Yeah you wish! It’s over a month for me..To be honest, the integration is not super easy to use..way better using Apple Music through CarPlay..
I agree that a workaround is helpful, but I do not have an iPhone and my phone is de-Googled, so Android Auto does not work for me.

I connect my phone by cable like a dinosaur and can run an Apple Music playlist from my phone with limited functionality.

The BMW Connected Drive on my i3 (with free Deezer) was a superior service when I had that vehicle but, when I think about it, it was not 100% reliable either.

I can live with this not working for a bit longer. The pros of the car still outweigh the nuisances - just!

I don't use the built in Apple Music integration - whenever I do it adds instability to the PCM software (literally causes reboots and black screens)- I agree that Carplay is the way to go.. but it is sad that once again the native apple music integration shows that the PCM sw is just crap... don't know if the MACAN andriod based SW is more stable - hope it is... and whenever the Rivian stack gets deployed hopefully that works much better.

I posted this on another thread but the PCM<>Apple Music sound quality sounds "fuller". Even though the bitrate is variable on PCM, the base is more punchy and overall ranges are more clear than Apple Car Play (through a wire, loseless)

Apple Music + PCM worked fine for months and stopped working for me one day.
The error occurs when trying to fetch the list of songs.
“Error. Please try again”. And hitting the “repeat” button logs me off and puts me into a registration step.
After registration , it errors out again when trying to query for songs.

things I’ve tried

- reset PCM to factor setting
- logged out and logged into my account
- unlinked within Apple Music setting on my phone
- went and deactivated and activated Apple Music contract within the car under connected services

Any help appreciated

In the UK…

Having the SAME exact issue. Tried everything, resetting, unlinking account, reboot PCM, removing Porsche account from iPhone…. Nothing seems to work.

iPhone says Linking successful but PCM keeps looping with the same error.

Going on for over 10 days now…

This is now working for me (0800 GMT on 16th Jan).

When pre-conditioning this morning using the app, I saw in the PCM services (Vehicle details -> Functions) the Apple Music link had fallen away. I then re-linked by following the prompts. I did not have to log in again in the car.

It would be good to have something from Porsche so we know what caused the widespread outage, what was the fix, and whether/when this will happen again...

Lol, you are assuming they know. It's just as likely it just started working, perhaps something that failed finally timed out, or some IT guy rebooted enough servers, possibly for regular maintenance.

I admit I was being somewhat facetious!

You were not wrong, it would nice to know. I recently ran into my Taycan not willing to unlock my DC charger (not mechanically stuck, Taycan software refused to unlock), as I started googling possible solutions, something timed out and the car released the port lock all on its own. Funny, that was a solution suggested by other owners who have ran into similar issues of not being able to unplug the car.

Such is the state of many software projects nowadays, put together from pre-existing pieces by people who treat them as black boxes, so when something goes wrong, nobody has a clue where to even start digging, other than "turn it off and back on, hopefully it will work then". With AI assistants, it gets even worse, not only are the piece black boxes, even the glue logic between is written by AI, so people had no in depth understanding of what happens.

Had the same issue. I hope the steps I used to fix this issue on my end is helpful to you.
  1. Go to My Porsche phone app.
  2. Tap Vehicle Details.
  3. Overview Functions Owner's Manual now shown on top. Select Functions.
  4. Scroll down past "Charging", "Pre-Climate", "Alarms", "Apple Maps EV Routing", "My Porsche in Apple CarPlay", and select "PCM Services".
  5. In PCM Services, select Apple Music and follow the rest of instructions to link account. The image below is a screenshot showing that now my Apple Music account is linked, as is Apple Podcasts.

I had tried these exact steps as well.... and nothing worked.

The issue was at the Porsche back-end servers, and since that has now been sorted (for now !!!), Apple Music/PCM now works...

Regardless, thanks for the input... It may be helpful in some other circumstances.
