After buying a Taycan last year, whilst being an absolute blast to drive, I only had it for two weeks, as the rest of the time it has been at the Porsche service centre with a multitude of issues ranging that has resulted in me requesting Porsche take the car back.

The question is, do I stick with going for another Taycan (they can't all be as bad as my experience suggests, can they?) or accept that they are worse than a Range Rover for reliability (been there, got the battle scars and vowed never to purchase another one again) and go for something different - Audi perhaps?

Thoughts?

Not sure how Audi will be better as they are built on the same platform, tech and engineering design.

I think you definitely have bad luck. Obviously the majority of the owners do not experience prolonged issues.

It's hard to say, IMO, the 2025s are likely more reliable. Taycan is still the best enthusiast/sports car in the market, so you have to decide if that's worth the gamble.

Most EVs in the marketplace have yet transitioned to their gen 2 (most are ".2" refreshes). I expect all 2027-2029+ models across the industry to be significantly more reliable.

Good point on Audi sharing the same platform. I'm not prepared to accept the depreciation on a new gen 1.2 even if I could afford it, and though used gen 1.2 are now coming through, they are still too high for me pricewise, so it would be a gen 1 replacement I would be looking at.

I love the car, but once bitten twice shy...

I have had a 22 4S for 3 years. Have had 2 heater replacements (1 failed, the other was the replacement campaign) and replacement of the on-board charger. Occasional loss of LTE, which restored on its own. I had to wait to schedule service, but repairs were completed within 3 days after I dropped off the car.
You had an unusual amount of problems in a short period.
If you decide to get another Taycan, I'd suggest working with a different dealer. The comments you made about service in the other thread (especially about LTE outage being a user problem) and buying a used car with problems are indications of poor dealer, in my opinion.

To be fair to the dealer, other than selling the car when it was not appropriate to do so, they have been excellent in communication/ensuring I have a courtesy car etc. Still unhappy that they didn't take on board my comments regarding the LTE though....

Your dealer should have been able to determine from records whether the original heater in the car had been replaced. If unable to do so, then the manufacturer's date on the installed heater could have been checked to see whether it was earlier than February 14, 2023, requiring replacement.

With all due respect, too many people seem to measure dealer service quality by how much they like the loaners they receive.

Loaner is a shocker - BMW IX - not good! I have been impressed with the dealer trying to turn repairs around as quickly as possible, but there have been too many of them...

Just spoken to different dealer about a replacement Taycan. Gen 1 MY23 - has the ARB6 recall. Porsche are trying to sell a car that can't be charged to over 80% and near any buildings. How is this possible...!

There are so many used Taycans - it's a buyers market.

If you do want another, I would be tempted to say that you will only purchase it, if you have the option to return it for a full refund (without question) if it develops any faults within the first x weeks.

Personally, I moved on due to the number of issues with my car. Or more importantly, the dealer/Porsche experience when things did go wrong.

Agreed on the ability to return the car. Whilst there are a lot out there none unfortunately have the specifications I'm after (which is why I paid over the odds for my existing Taycan).

 from me.
My 4S -20 was 10 days on the road during 2024.
8 months was spent in warranty repairs.
Rest waiting Consumer disputes board to decide if this is just something that must be accepted as a Porsche customer (no decision yet).

Few months without any loaner, then Audi A3 (- I suppose the '3' means amount of cylinders), then RWD Taycan which worked OK ie. just normal SW glitches..

Hmm - it's that type of experience which suggests I really should look elsewhere as the Taycan as nice as it is, just doesn't seem to be reliable enough.

No major issues with my Taycan in 3 1/2 years. It was just in for its 40k service recently. First time it was at dealer in two years. Not planning on taking it back for another 2 years.

My 911, however…I’ve started a collection of “flatbed” photos for. My wife asked me the other day if we should consider just buying our own tow truck.

My 911 in 25 yrs of ownership has been an absolute rock (old school cars really are generally bullet proof). Glad to hear a positive Taycan ownership story - there don't seem to be many about...

Most of the taycans sold before 2025 will have that recall or some other similar recall.
All in all there are 4-5 battery recalls, each covering 10-20k cars. Porsche sold only so many taycans, so most of them have battery issues.
The lucky ones that don't have a recall yet, are just that, lucky. It will come
