Taycan Paint quality is very impressive. It could be because its Purple Sky Metallic

- Average 8.5mil, as high as 10mil. This was a pleasant surprise. Most cars are in the high 4s, Tesla in the low 3s, Rolls Royce can be as high as 25mil

Porsche Taycan Taycan Paint Quality (Thickness Measured) 20250916_100350

- Clear coat inst too hard or soft so its easy to work with from a correction standpoint
- Light orange peel, not too much shrinkage

- Metallic flake was sprayed on nicely, zero sign of potential tiger stripes

Scratches and hazing are expected on a new Porsche. Not sure if its from Porsche or the dealer, but it can be corrected.

- I did find 1 tiny fish eye on the roof which is from contamination during the paint process at the factory, but its not visible and PPF will hide it

It is funny because yesterday someone randomly told me. What a great paint job!
I did not had time to ask him what he mean.
The car was not super clean but good enough for him to comment on it.

Type of transport cover makes a difference. My fully covered GT3's paint was in significantly better shape than my Taycan. Not big things but still matters.

You're absolutely right. The GTs are reallly protected.
Mine came in exactly like your Taycan.

What was the condition of the paint from the factory on your GT3?

Well, almost no correction needed, I mean no major scratches. The light ones probably collected by the pre delivery wash. On the Taycan recognized some deeper ones similar to your pics.

But my location is 1,100km from Stuttgart, and cars are arriving in 5-10 days from completion so not much weather/transport effects compare to the more complicated torture to US.
They put on a truck at the factory than take off at the dealership on the same day.

Interesting thing, only winged GT cars are protected with full cover. Touring GT3 is covered like any of the non GT cars, same way as the Taycan.

Thank you for posting. Quick question, how do you like the Extech paint thickness gauge? I have been looking for a quality lower cost option to the DeFelsko PT6000.

IGL Kenzo.

I have some Feynlab v3 for the glass. I already used some on the defuser and front intake plastic pieces.

I'm thinking to get the interior rear seat delete carbon fiber coated too

Mine is not so good unfortunately. Carmine red paint is just coming off. I’ve appointment at the dealer next week, they will have a look. Maybe there was some paintwork done before I bought it (different dealership) when it was 1 year old.

Did not hit anything or so. It’s there since max couple of weeks, I always hand wash the car so would have noticed.

Are these just rock chips or the paint is coming off? My car got 2 rock chips after 4 miles during PDI before I took delivery

also Repainted Front and rear bumpers on used cars are considered normal.

0km on the drivetrain, 1100km on the paint :D

I actually ordered my car from a German dealer because could not get a good agreement with my local one. Thinking to get it here on covered trailer also for this reason.

Unless you drive it under 20mph with no other cars on the street, you definitely want it flat-bedded. I had more flat-bedded 89 miles to avoid the chips
