My car had PCM and PVTS+ issues since I collected my car, which has now been at the dealer for 4 weeks and counting......
My tracker tags were not synced to the car and they are unable to do so. Also the PCM would not connect to anything-The onboard sim, Bluetooth, WiFi etc.

After 4 weeks they have decided to change the tracker module which will solve the tracker issues. They claim the PCM issues are caused by the tracker module (which arrives next week at some point) and once fixed the PCM will be fine. I don’t want them fixing that new module and spend weeks trying to fix the PCM after that.

So my question is, anyone who has had tracker module issues, did you have PCM issues that were also solved with tracker module change?

Thanks

Hi,

I have had quite a few issues with my PVTS+ since collecting the car (Nov'20, MY21) but for now the problem(s) appear to have been resolved. After the initial pairing of the tracking fobs (prior to car collection) they apparently "un-paired" themselves 2 weeks later without any obvious indication / notification that this had happened. I had a suspicion that the service wasn't working as I hadn't had any calls from Vodafone when I drove the car without the fob present (this should have triggered a possible theft or unauthorised access alert). In parallel to this I had various PCM Porsche Connect ID issues which would randomly log out my account when in the car and insist on logging in as 'Guest' and could not be overridden unless left for a period of time.

I then raised a ticket with the technical support team at Porsche (probably the most inept service I have encountered...ever!) who apparently are ill equipped (trained) to cope with basic issues. Over the course of a few weeks (and after escalating to Porsche UK) the advice (from Germany) led to a simple PCM reset within the car (note that this will lose many personal PCM and other car settings which have to be re-established when logging in with your Porsche Connect ID for the first time). However, during that process the technical team flagged that the PVTS+ fobs weren't paired with the car which confirmed what I had suspected for a number of weeks.

So I booked the car into the dealership for the re-pairing and also checked with Vodafone (who provide the service) to see if / when the fobs were ever paired. The chap from Vodafone could not have been more helpful and confirmed the date when the fobs were originally paired and also when they unpaired 2 weeks later. The dealership could not offer an explanation as to why the unpairing had happened in the first instance but for what I assumed would take 10 mins to resolve took nearly 3 hours.

There is no way of knowing if the problem reoccurs other than to leave the fob at home when taking the car for a drive and hope that Vodafone calls (if they don't then there's an issue). Not ideal especially when this is likely to directly impact your insurance should the worst happen. The PCM issue also (touch wood) has not reoccurred.

Not sure if any of this helps other than PVTS+ and the technology that it depends on is not 100% reliable (it is a new system deployed on Taycans) and that there may / may not be a direct correlation with this and PCM issues. Again, not sure if this is related but it took 8 days post collection of the car for online services (including PVTS+) to be available in the car which seems extreme and reasonably ought to all have been active from date of collection.

Thanks for that

My car is also a 21MY, early December 20. My dealer is Mayfair and my car is at Reading right now

I hope all the settings were automatically restored when you logged in? I believe that was the benefit of having the Porsche ID so that all your settings were transferred to another car if you log in?

Really sad to hear so much trouble and issues for both of you with this.

I am quite happy that the technical guru at my Porsche dealer strongly advised against taking that feature. It is a feature on demand here and I enquired with them. The advice was “ NON!”

Hi,

So from memory, comfort settings were preserved but layout of PCM and any personal setting made here wasn't stored in my case. Not a major deal and more of a pain but given the (over) reliance on technology it would be reasonable to expect all settings to be preserved in a central cloud based location a la Apple / Android.

The tracking worked well in my Pana ST and Macan T before but like many things on the Taycan not robustly tested by real end users! The only positive really is the impact on insurance.

Thx

Thx

Same issues over here but sligtly diferent, the car doens't capure the tracker (driver card VTS+4). So every time i start the car Porsche security (securitas) gives me a call.
Car is already 5 weeks at the dealership.
They found a broken cable, replaced the OTA module but still no result.
Dealership takes this serious...i guess, they gave me a loaner taycan turbo.

My car has now been fixed,

the dealer changed the actual tracker module as the pairing with the fob had issues.
