Recently, my car was at the dealership to replace the in-cabin heater. They also changed the cabin air filter after I DIY'd it and couldn't seal the enclosure (they noted the fan was making a whistling noise).

After taking the car back, I noticed a strong whistling sound for speeds above 30 mph. It sounds like it's coming from the driver side ceiling area, which has me perplexed. It definitely sounds like it's coming from the outside of the car. Could it be an improperly assembled undertray or bumper (assuming they needed to go into the firewall to replace the heater)?

Could it be this as they may have needed to take the bumper off? https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/possible-fix-whistling-noise-at-50mph.14029/

Anyone else have this issue?

I feel like I noticed this recently (last couple of months) too. I was thinking that it's coming from the top of the windshield. Haven't been able to pinpoint the source yet.

They didnt close air filter box. I made same mistake when DIYed myself, had whistle all the time

Just remove cover and try to lock airbox. Be careful as plastic clips on cover easy to snap, might need to move filter itself back and forth

You're referring to the cover under the glove box?

Standing in front of the car looking towards the back of the Frunk, with the Frunk liner removed, you would be able to see the heater.

It is silver in colour, access is pretty simple from a servicing perspective.

The grey box in the image, below the heater, is the on-board-charger.

I just had this issue rectified the other day. Took them a few hours to figure out what the issue was but my vehicle also had some ac modules changed last June.

Here is what they included in the report:

“We found the whistling noise at the A‑pillar area was likely caused by a front trunk trim piece that was pushed out. We removed that trim, added felt tape to reduce air gaps, and reinstalled it. We will test drive to see if that fixes the noise and will update you if we find anything else.”

“We road-tested your vehicle and heard a faint wind noise at certain directions when driving into the wind at about 60 km/h. The trim panel that had felt tape wasn't stopping the wind, so we added butyl cord to that panel to further seal it. After re-testing, the noise was not present. The shop foreman also road-tested the vehicle and was unable to reproduce the noise”

do you have a picture of the butyl cord on the trim panel?

I just had my heater replaced by a recall and now I hear the whistle sound and I know I’m not crazy because it wasn’t there before. I’m going to check the air filter first.

For me the frunk seal tape fixed the issue

I've read stories about techs installing a whistle in AC ducts to f-over customers.. Probably not the case here.

But was it related to the heater replacement work?
Somewhat. It's related to disassembly of the frunk trim to access the heater. A few millimeters of tolerance here and there can create an air gap
