I'm trying to filter for fast DC chargers. Below the radio button for "Only DC", there are several other radio buttons for various rates. They are all greyed out as shown in the attached image. The car will show me chargers, but there are several near my house that are not being shown. The dealer indicates I have to pay the monthly $27 for Porsche connect for these to be enabled, and the Porsche North America doesn't seem to know if that is true.

I think it's ridiculous to have to pay a monthly fee for a basic function required for an electric vehicle.

So I'm here to ask if anyone who is NOT paying monthly for Porsche Connect has access to these DC fast charge filter buttons?? I would like to gather this info before Tuesday because I'm going back to the deal to complain about this.

I have a second issue with the car routing me to a non-existent freeway offramp, but I'll post that separately.

Hey there,
My Taycan Turbo MY20 looks exactly the same as you, I don't have an active Porsche Connect service, I will take it 1 month when I go on holiday, then stop the subscription.
The 2025 J1.2 I tried displayed the latest DC chargers around without any issue.
So I'm pretty sure your dealer is right even if it sucks to be paying monthly for some features that should be free for the car's life (not all)

I also use PlugShare to ensure the charging stations are still in working condition, just another alternative.

You have no internet connectivity where data is part of the My Porsche subscription service. Without this no dice - a data connection is needed to search online for any and all EVSE Operators signed up to Porsche. Google search can also be performed but you would still require the data connection.

In the absence of an active subscription then use CarPlay or Android Auto to locate….but note you’ll lose preconditioning.
There are still parts of this statement I can’t reconcile with what I see. The car searches for hundreds of chargers right now, even without a subscription. How is that possible if what you say is accurate?

The really frustrating part is that I can use a search term “Electrify America” and it finds a bunch of them but there are also many it misses. Is this simply a bug? Is the database stale in my car? I have no idea but there is nothing good about this. The f-in car should be able to search for charging stations without a paid service. Preheating is a fundamental functional for efficient use of a charging stations. There should be a class action lawsuit to get them to turn on these basic functions for free.

I don’t care about remote features at all! They might be fun to play around with, but they are not necessary to use the car.

It is accurate.

Your NAV also has local data stored up to the point your subscription expired. You simply won't get new locations, how busy an EVSE is or local services (pricing data), map updates, satellite map layer, traffic info, risk radar etc.

The remote features are a side show and not the main event. Without a subscription you are limiting features of the car. Your choice and one worth reconsidering.

All new Porsches from MY25 onwards come with a 10 year subscription.

You wrote: "Your NAV also has local data stored up to the point your subscription expired." The person who owned this car before me had 3 free years, so the car should have updated maps up until 1 year ago. Does it only update areas the car passes through, or does it update large parts of the country? I looked at historical images of google earth, and the charger it can't seem to find looks like it was operational in early 2024.

Depends on when the EVSE was added to the database used by Porsche and lag times are a complete unknown. It may be that whoever operates that particular one is not part of the Porsche Charging Service (this was common back in 2020 - 2022) and has improved since then.

Map updates are periodic and now changed to be more online biased for EVSEs and the like (I'm making an assumption here) to avoid lags and possibly not to exclude any EVSE if part of the Porsche Charging Service or not).

I don't know if maps are updated in chunks or when a new area is traversed. My guess is incremental.

I don't use this functionality and I have the Connect service so I can't replicate your setup - are you able to find the charger in the app on your phone?

Oddly enough, yes! I can filter for chargers with 270+ kW and it will show me the station the car will not. But it does incorrectly show it as 2 chargers when there are actually four chargers at that location.

Would be interesting to hear if somebody else near you with an active Porsche Connectservice can see the charger in the PCM?

If I were you I'd subscribe for 1 month and see what happens (you can cancel afterwards).
I just hope the system doesn't delete or somehow turns ineffectives the updates downloaded/installed once the service isn't active anymore.
