cruise control message "ACC passive" - getting too close to lorry in front ... then dropping back too far and repeating.

Weird new thing happened on my way into the OPC to get the Nav-3892 update....

With cruise control ACC set to minimum distance & pootling slowly in the lorry lane on motorway, the distance between my car and the lorry in front kept shortening to uncomfortably close and the message "ACC passive" flickered on and off - then the ACC would drop me back to normal distance (ish) - the 'passive' message would then appear and again car would creep forward to way too close to lorry in front.

It was as if the radar was 'hunting' for correct distance .....(too close-too far etc.) ... No warnings about dirty sensors or anything else ... The OPC checked for cruise-ACC fault codes while it was in for software update but found nothing wrong.

I had the same in the way back from OPC for the first 2-3 miles - then I got bored and speeded up to main traffic speed, still using ACC and the fault went away for remainder of journey .. Anyone had this? Ideas?

I thought it was the car grumbling and telling me to get a move on!

Sounds to me like the ACC is getting confused by the truck - I'm guessing there was little in the way of bodywork low down where the sensor would normally detect a car.

That's a new one, Lorry's, buses and Coaches can use lanes 1, 2 and 3 (on a 4 lane Motorway), I expect you mean lane 1 where everyone should drive, except when overtaking.
