Any problem with the mechanical parts of the transmission or the motor itself like the clutches or gears. Then the software detects the problem and stalls the car.
Btw, in most cases the car is not shut down. It is still on but it does not move i.e. no power is sent to the motors.
The categorization of the complaints as "electrical" is selected by the person who submits the complaint. If you read the details they all boil down to "the car died while driving" and this what really matters, because that dictates how dangerous the issue is.
Only Porsche can tell if that is an...
Why don't you use the lemon law to request a replacement?
Your car had that undiagnosed electrical error and it wouldn't start and now a fried module. This does not inspire confidence for the future.
So when the dealer has no idea how to answer a question or fix a problem and when customer service does not respond or gives you a useless answer then what do you do?
I have contacted them asking about the max weight of the car (discussed here) and they sent me a totally unsatisfactory response which was basically "ask the dealer". I guess they missed the part where I said that I had already asked the dealer and they should stop ping-ponging me to each other.
This is not surprising at all and I personally have very little confidence given what I have seen so far both in terms of software technology and also existing customer care/service.
If you look at Ford it took them just one month to discover, fix and deploy a software fix for their Mach-e 12v...
TSB about charging hardware overheating

It does not offer any solution. It says "This topic remains under investigation."
Updated WMA5/6/7 TSBs. The new ones are dated April 28th while the old ones were dated March 26.

You can discover charging station locations in the Nav. After you click on Search for destination there is a dedicated button to find nearby chargers.
However to initiate charging at those chargers you need the right application (and an account) or to use your credit card and pay on the spot.

If I could guess it is a bad main battery. Ignore everyone's advice to restart/reset the car. Since you are not in the middle of a motorway there is no reason to recover it and lose some evidence of the issue. You should also not risk driving it around because it can happen while driving and the...
I don't think your problem is related to the PCM but I do believe it ws triggered by the driving mode change. Of course it is all speculation.
You can imagine that if the rear drive module is in a degraded state then an additional command to change mode (which require further processing like...
For those of you who experienced the issue do you remember how long the car was on (i.e. how long you have been driving till the car stalled)? Rough estimate? Was it in for more than half hour? More than an hour?
Based on the dealer's description of the rear drive module getting overwhelmed it...
Sounds the same as reported by at least 4 members in other threads. Probably a newly introduced bug in WMA5 update.
Did turning it off/on resolve the issue (until it happens again)?

Warranty should cover if it is caused by a manufacturing defect or transportation problem. You will have to be able to make an argument that this is not due some impact. It is usually easier to argue if the crack is at the inside because they cannot say it was cause by a rock or tree branch.
I disagree with both IBZMan and faroutinNM.
Relying on owners to remember what buttons they pushed while driving is an archaic way to debug problems. The car should log its state, all variables and the user inputs when errors occur. It should also self-correct/recover when possible...
The doc is what they hoped to achieve but in practice it is somewhat different.
For example, "Digital cockpit sporadic loading spinners and resets are avoided". I still have them after the update.
The 12v issue might be prevented during charging but I still caught my PCM with a forever...
I did not want to have mine hanging so close to the floor to avoid my kid breaking it with the bike. That is why it is installed above the outlet and it is upside down.
I actually had it flipped with ground at 6 o'clock so I don't have to bend the cable. My outlet was closer to the floor so PMCC had to be above it. PMCC is upside down but that is not a problem since the info on screen is useless.
In my opinion the best insrallation is with the outlet installed...
