I see Jaguar just issued a recall on IPace due to LG folded anode issues again, capping out the battery at 80% and asking owners to charge out doors. I’m dreading the day for the Taycan given the use of LG cells. Can’t be good for residual values…
I got the Taycan for all the same reasons everyone touted here: perceived longevity, high expectations for customer service, expected ongoing support (decade plus), and what was described as a repair policy for the battery.
However based only my experience since day 1 trying to buy, to ongoing...
I wish we could take the underbody plate and run some tests to see what kind of impact it would take to cause this sort of dent. We can then comp that to the new J1.2 plate and see if that’s any better. I’m sure some mechanical/materials engineers here can come up with a better aftermarket design!
Just an anecdotal data point - I have left my 4S at 75% for two weeks and it’s fine so far. I’m still able to see it on My Porsche app. Last year I left it for four weeks over the same period and it was fine. I did not plug it in both times.
Not crazy at all. Taycan is a visceral treat. The handling, appearance and emotional appeal is all top notch. I still can’t help but steal glances at my own car and take way too many photos of it after a year of ownership.
Congrats! I have to say I used to firmly be in the camp that the j1 lights looked way better but real life photos of J1.2 look much better than the press photos.
I joined this thread late but holy crap what a journey. Kudos to @Maelstrom for escalating this to Porsche NA. I selfishly hope this gets flagged by Porsche corporate as a broader issue but now I see why the forum is hating on Porsche and the Taycan these days.
I agree with most here. Hybrid seems like a risky gamble in terms of reliability especially from German marques. I’ve had five cars prior to the Taycan, including two VWs and a BMW (all ICE of course). All had powertrain issues at ~8 year mark that cost more to fix than the car was worth. Can’t...
What a great combo. I almost got the old mamba green but found it too bright and was really looking for something like oak green. If oak green was available then, I’d be all over it.
Just get the Tesla wall connector. It’s cheap, works flawlessly and electricians are familiar with it. For electricians - I spoke to my local town permitting office and got some local references. I initially priced out Tesla recommended electricians in my area but they all charged 2-3x what the...
I’m starting to get the itch to get some new wheels for my CT4S. I’m leaning towards OEM choices but am interested in something that’s not the standard Taycan fare. Possibly the e-tron GT or maybe something off a Cayenne, looks like the offsets are in similar range. Anyone have photos or...
100% agree. This is just traditional auto parts and technology, for Porsche to mess this up definitely is not a good look. I can ride out and convince myself to live with electric gremlins but recalls on core auto safety stuff is pretty jarring.
I’m presuming from Betteridge’s law of headlines that the answer to the question is “no”. This is my old man yelling at the cloud moment but I hate how everything is a video these days!
I also had my first EA session recently. Similarly easy handshake. That said I didn’t precondition the battery so that could’ve been part of the reason I had slow charging speeds.
Just had this issue. Did engineering reset twice and now waiting with a locked car. Interesting that CarPlay audio and nav was still coming through. Ridiculous that I can’t adjust the AC vents now.
edit: after about an hour locked and away from the car, it corrected itself. Three engineering...
