I'm still angry about this charger downgrade every day. 5 days a week I park at a commercial charger that can do 208v @ 48A and now my car charges slower.
It's impossible to talk about kW without also talking about voltage.
Porsche cut the maximum current consumption from 48A to 40A. That's the salient point.
This is a bummer because the Commercial chargers at 208v (USA) are most likely to have 48A, and now I charge slower there.
Today it's offering me the third OTA update in a week.
I don't dare. No more "upgrades" without a full document on what's changing. I did not want the last one, in hindsight. I should never have accepted it, so I could still be charging 20% faster.
Tesla drivers seem to enjoy getting...
This feels actionable. It's not an insignificant change to daily use. Charge rate is a meaningful part of the ownership experience, and often promoted as a product advantage.
How far down could they take this before people (and lawyers) feel differently? 30A? 20A?
My car came with an 11kW OBC, so to get that rate at even a generous 240v, they would need to allow 46A.
It is right in the spec under Standard Equipment:
E-Mobility
Mobile Charger Plus
11 kW On-Board Charger
Supply Cable for NEMA 14-50 Electrical Socket
Mobile Charger Cable

Right? I think most people know that. What I mean is that most commercial EVSE provide 208v because they are two taps off the 3-phase Wye. And 208v vs 240v is not relevant to the car/EVSE negotiation.
Agreed. I have to use an external monitor or information to see what the car and EVSE...
The installed L2 chargers at our (US) business center have 208v (commercial 3-phase source).
The EVSE advertises 80% Duty Cycle at the J1772 Pilot Signal (80x0.6), for 48A available. They are hardwired to 60A breakers.
Last week, my '24 Taycan 4S would draw over 9kW from this. Now, if they...
I feel like this is confusing to discuss as "kW" because that depends too much on the voltage at the EVSE, and it seems Porsche doesn't scale charging to the voltage.
I have an 11kW charger ("9.6kW" AC/DC OBC) but it seems what they actually did is cut the current the car would request from the...
The move would have been to remove the links before going in for any service, or really any reason at all.
Best chance now is to remove them, go to a different dealer and kindly ask for a recalibration?
My 2024 4S here also received the same update yesterday.
Sorely lacking in information on what this brings, as it feels like they don't owe us any explanation, just "this will take 3 minutes"
USD $157 + shipping, and almost sold out -- we are a unique bunch.
I use the Anker Qi2 cooled car charger, 3D printed a cup-holder mount, and clamped it into that.
I wonder what selection/sampling bias is in the data set. It's probably not a smooth cross-section of cars, like if you had a checkpoint and tested all Taycans on the road.
People running the software are probably either data nerds (hi!) and enthusiasts that want their car to be perfect, OR...
If you want it right away (US), then this cable worked fine for me:

I have no idea what the display shows, since it's facing the footwell, but the data works great with the awesome tcan app.
I wonder if we have different Costco towels. Mine are bright orange and leave a ton of lint. They simply can not be used wet at all. I see it most on windows, hairs everywhere. When Dry they seem to stay together and work fine for buffing, but with the sewn edge and tags, not the best.

I get this warning when driving on smooth straight freeway without much drama. Both hands on the wheel, just not a lot of input. It happens about once a day.
It has never done anything adverse, just the pointless warning.
I believe it happens even without ALK/LKA enabled. (No assistive...
