In case you were wondering how much a battery costs

    It's 2024, and the Taycan 93kWh battery is $37K. From Audi no less. 🙂 P/N 9J1915100AM https://parts.audiusa.com/p/Audi__/Drive-Motor-Battery-Pack/103052090/9J1915100AM.html

Reflections on 2023, and this Forum

@nischalr - thanks for your well-written thoughts. I also agree that this is the automotive online forum with the most well-reasoned and civilized members. IMO, it's actually more similar to the discourse I find with Porsche Club of America members in my local region than to the sometimes...

Caution - Inspection BS - Dealership BS - Austin TX

The tire pricing seems to be in line with what Porsche Austin is charging. Just that their installation is more expensive than Discount Tire. https://www.pcnatirestore.com/InitDealer?dealer=671

Caution - Inspection BS - Dealership BS - Austin TX

It's still very curious about Texas' stance as an oil & gas state since we are now home to the world's most valuable automaker ... that produces exactly zero ICE vehicles. That said, do reach out to James, the service manager at Porsche Austin. They've always done right by me, so I don't know...

    Anybody in Austin, TX?

I ordered a 992 Carrera T last year and traded my Taycan 4S towards it this past summer. I hope to get back into a Taycan or other Porsche EV some day! Please join Hill Country Region PCA and see our events listing here: https://hcrpca.org/events/

Story of our life (at least in the US)

I don't think Plug and Charge was ever added to the 2020 due a HW limitation? EA broke my wife's patience when on a trip between Houston and Austin (that normally takes ~3 hours) ended up taking over 4 hours due to needing to wait for the only 2 working EA chargers in Columbus, Texas to free up...

Story of our life (at least in the US)

I have a Tesla Model 3 as a rental car from Avis this week, and ... it just works. Despite all the usual criticisms about the Model 3 as a car, the charging experience is so seamless. Navigate to a Supercharger station find an open stall (there's always an open stall that I've seen at every...

My first HPDE at Circuit of the Americas in Taycan 4S

Great write-up! I have done two HPDEs at COTA when I had a Taycan 4S. I wrote about my experience here. And my second time out, I beat my old 997.2's best time: https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/2-38-lap-at-cota.10435/ Are you part of PCA Hill Country Region? I didn't go to the most...

    Porsche NFT, anyone?

Yes, just as 95% of apps in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store are worthless. There's also this piece from the Daily Mail in 2000 that didn't age well: Blockchain, as a technology, is designed to allow decentralized source-of-truth. Event ticketing that decouples the reliance on...

    Porsche NFT, anyone?

Yes, and this is table stakes for the success of EVs in the US. But just as Porsche did not build gas stations in 1963 for the original 911, maybe Porsche should not directly own / build fast DC charging stations? This seems like a solution best served by EA, ChargePoint, or in conjunction with...

    Porsche NFT, anyone?

But is that truly a quick way to expand an addressable market? This is a marketing funnel problem; Porsche is inherently an exclusive, up-market brand, and the intersection of that audience with people who want an EV is shown by current Taycan sales and trade-in values. The oft-delayed Macan EV...

    Porsche NFT, anyone?

Hey Dave, I appreciate the discussion, especially because I've been on multiple threads with you on this forum where you've laid out good engineering analysis. Re: energy consumption, you made me genuinely curious because I'm not inherently a web3 proponent. The argument sounded much like the...

    Porsche NFT, anyone?

Isn't every enthusiast on TaycanForum, Rennlist, etc. a "shill", in that case? Did you get a free hat at the 75th anniversary / Festival of Dreams event hosted by your local dealership? Authentic grassroots marketing is what keeps Porsche so popular among its enthusiasts. Ferrari, arguably, does...

    Porsche NFT, anyone?

Re: NFTs and worth, P911.DE stock is down 17% in the last 6 months, and no one is claiming that's a scam or that Porsche (as a company) is worthless. If you look at holding Porsche shares or a Porsche NFT as an "entrance ticket" to shareholder meetings or NFT holder events, there's still value...

    Porsche NFT, anyone?

None of the above. I'm a multiple Porsche car owner and part of the leadership in a PCA regional chapter. But not on Porsche AG or PCNA's payroll!

    Porsche NFT, anyone?

It is a marketing program and also a means for new customer acquisition. Building brand awareness and staying relevant to younger, non-traditional demographics is important for Porsche. Porsche Macan customers have a median household income of $440K. And that's the entry level to the Porsche...

New Porsche Charging Lounge Experience by Out of Spec

I'm surprised I haven't seen you at the AUS airport! I was a regular at the Austin Admirals Club for many years. Re: Porsche charging lounge, I actually cannot see PCNA investing in this. The US is too vast a country for the utilization rate of such a facility to approach a reasonable ROI...

First Porsche Charging Lounge opens in Germany

Neat!! The QR code on the charging station links to: https://porsche.charging-lounges.com Until that video, I had forgotten about the Audi Charging Hub Lounge. That one is even nicer than the Porsche Charging Lounge! It's like Lufthansa First Class (Audi) versus LH Business Class (Porsche)...

Taycan Problems are overwhelming an otherwise great car

Re: energy consumption, use the trip display in the instrument cluster as you drive. My Taycan 4S would typically use 36-40 kWh/100 mi. If your consumption is much higher, that may be the cause of your reduced estimated range.

    I'm done....cant do it anymore

It comes down to being a hardware company versus a software company. In the former case, you ship it once with high-quality because you expect revisions to be expensive. In the latter case, you plan for a "launch & iterate" strategy with frequent software pushes where bugs are expected, but they...
