I have the PVTS+ OEM tracker and it works very well. Although the fob is a bit bulky to carry around, you do get used to it.

I’ve also had a few false alarms when I’ve been driving for some time and randomly the dash tells me ‘Driver card not found’ when it’s in my pocket. To be fair though, literally seconds later you receive an alert on your phone and they call to make sure it’s a false alarm, so at least I know it works very well!

Had a Scorpion tracker on my previous M3 which didn’t require a fob of any kind and I used to get a few false alarms with that too, so I guess they all do it to a degree. I went with the Porsche tracker as it was already fitted when I bought the car, the two fobs were in the glove box and it cost around £80 or so for my OPC to activate PVTS+ and add it to my Porsche account.

The fob is an UK only thing right? I have PVTS+ without an additional fob.
Why the difference?

I’m not 100% certain but there is PVTS and PVTS Plus (+) where the latter comes with the fob for additional security (apparently). May be region specific too and historically only PVTS+ was offered in UK. If you can have it without the fob with similar security features barring the 2 factor step (fob) then that’s ideal.

What happens when you valet the car? Do you have to leave the keyfob and the card behind?

I thought the plus was the team behind it. So when my alarm goes off I get a notification and a phone call. Did not know it was the fob

Nope - there is a mode you can select in the My Porsche App for this as there is for Valet parking, servicing etc.

Key fob is needed obviously to start and move the car. If you leave the card in the car it deactivates the system.

Nope, that’s the SOC (Security Operation Centre) which is manned 24x7x365 and is part of the standard service (its what you’re paying for in the subscription mostly).

Ideally you don’t want the card as it is a faff. Historically, PVTS was a separate box attached to the car and required the cards to be paired to that device. Now it is integral to the PCM but if you have fobs then these have to be registered.

So I collected the GTS and found two of the below in the glove box.

Any idea? Security related?

I’ve taken them out of the car and now in the house.

These are the PVTS+ (separate subscription needed) driver cards for security tracking.

If you don't want the additional Porsche security system then keep these safe and include when you sell the car.

If you want the service, subscribe to activate.

Read the Owner's Manual too...
