Interesting.Do you have to be careful with how you clean those wheels? I've used car guys wheel cleaner spray on my cars, but I don't know if those chemicals would affect the painted wheels.
IME it is diamond cut wheels which lose their protection, I don’t know whether it is the lacquer sealing them being less robust than paint but all the ally wheels I have owned have corroded on the shiny bit and the painted bit has been fine.
So much so I have avoided any wheel with bright highlights where possible for many years now.
