My Taycan is heading in for detailing next week, followed by Xpel wrap on the front end, mirrors & rear panels. I’m then getting full ceramic coating on the car, including the ‘step over’ bits by the doors and trunk etc.

I’m looking forward to the results, but will be without the car for the week & will clearly go into deep depression...

I hear they can induce a coma if that would make the week pass more easily.
It’s a new part of Porsche’s full service options in these times of covid.

I am picking up my car soon and then my car too will be out for a week. The challenge will be if I can get a 11,000 mile road trip done in the several days I have the car. Challenge....accepted!

I need that now for my wait until February for mine.

But related to this thread. Does anyone have an opinion getting the wrap from the dealer vs. a third party?

I think many dealers would outsource it anyway, so I am going directly to the third party. Also even if they don’t outsource, it isn’t necessarily their area of expertise compared to a third prty

My dealer uses a third party that they highly recommend, and I've checked out their work on a number of Porsches. I also have heard of this outfit from other Ferrari and McLaren owners who rave about the work.

DO NOT simply let the dealer do the work. You need to go to a shop that does wraps all the time, and really knows what they are doing, and yes, charges a boatload. It will be worth it in the long run for sure.

My third party shop is doing my radar/laser jammer install with the Escort Max 360 ci so I'll have the display in the mirror. They have a wrap shop they use that is rated 5 stars with several hundred reviews. They'll be wrapping with Xpel and adding some black sections above the side skirts and glossing over the matte sections. They have a lifetime warrantee on the top level ceramic, so I can go back anytime for a 'touch-up' for free. They'll also do the window tinting.

As a final tip, I chose the Escort 360 CI because it is a completely integrated system, and in the last 90 days it has been upgraded to jam the newest laser guns. The guys at AL priority evidently didn't know this. I spoke to someone who just had the system installed and drove from Cinti to Fla through Atlanta, where they make the Dragon Eye Lidar, and he said it jammed every time. I'm good with a laser jammer that is 95% as good as ALP because the install will be so much simpler and cleaner with the Escort.

Just out of curiosity what is the cost of the Escort 360CI and are you sending the mirror to Radar Mirror in Texas for clean install of display?
Thanks, Fire34609

Not sure where they are sending the mirror, but it's a 3 day turnaround. The Escort 360CI install is around 4K. I'll definitely post the pics and details when it's done - hopefully early September.

Thanks. I had Radar Mirror install one for me in my 2014 Cayman S through North Blvd in Pinellas county Florida.
Chose the 'red' color for display to match exterior of the vehicle. If they are doing the work it will be flawless, you won't know it is there when car is off, some vendors leave an etched square that look sad.
Can not wait for photos and thanks for $$, give me idea of pricing....
