100% worth it. I've experienced all 3 systems and the base is terrible, especially if you care about music. Minimum BOSE no question.
I've experienced all three systems and I care about music and to me Bose wasn't worth it (even though I spent 20x more on my home system). Bass is boomy (instead of hitting you in the chest fast), soundstage is still small, and it's lacking detail (although even if it wasn't you wouldn't notice while driving anyway). No regrats whatsoever.

Also, don't forget that Bose doesn't just cost extra money, it takes away space from your trunk (that you could use to store your charger/charging cable).
