Was charging my 2024 Taycan 4S yesterday - probably the 4th or 5th time I've charged. Set max charge to 100% in preparation for long drive today. Was out running errand in our second car when I got a message saying, roughly, "charging process interrupted, charging error".

When I got home the release button light ring was red (never saw that before). I unplugged, locked car, left it 15 minutes, unlocked, and tried again. Instant red ring. Nothing helpful in physical or online manual .

Spent 30 minutes proving to myself that Porsche has no technical help phone number!!

Turned on car to see state of charge, which was 78%, battery showing green, so charing mostly worked (stated at 35%). Attached are pics of various lights.

Suggestions? Ideas.

What EVSE are you using?
Did the red error on instrument panel go away?
Have you attempted to charge again after a day?
If car is drivable, try AC charging with a different EVSE (at home, or public). Need to determine whether problem is with the EVSE or the car.
If not able to AC charge with different EVSEs, likely a problem with your car's on-board charger.
Good luck.

How big is your garage and what climate do you live in? I had this problem and had Porsche chase this all last summer. They replaced everything in the system and it would still happen. The cause is the charger gets too hot and fails.
In Porsches genius move they rely on the charger to reduce amperage during an overheating moment instead of the vehicle reducing it. As pretty much all home chargers don’t have this capability the charge will fail. Other then getting a bigger garage, cooler climate, or condition garage your left with only one option. You can reduce the amperage in your ev charger during the summer months. It will take longer to charge your car but it should be less likely to fail.

Welcome to my world. Love this car but my Taycan 2024 charging issues began with the NEMA recall replacement cable (July 2024) and continue. My advice is to be persistent w/PCNA and your dealer, document everything & keep solid records, put your foot down when PCNA does the, “we will escalate and someone will get back to you” (bc they won’t). Oh and insist the loaner car from your dealer is a Taycan or you’ll be driving an SUV ?.

Same experience. I recently paid for electrician to ck my 240 industrial outlet, grounding, etc and got signed off all clear. Difference is I live where it rarely gets over 75 and never that warm in my garage. 50% does not always solve it.

Question: I’m getting a super hot console PCM. Porsche said no reports of this or error msgs when they put the computer on it. I invested in a Thermo meter to prove a 1 hr highway drive gets it up to 138°. I just know my phone shuts down far before that hot. Is my PCM going to stop in the middle of the highway?

This is the reason I installed a 12k BTU mini split in my garage. Cheap and effective, especially for the 100 degree and higher temps here in Atlanta.

Yup. I'm having this problem this summer as well. It's getting too hot, and you need to start charging in the morning or evening when it's cooler outside.

The tech support phone number is 1-800-PORSCHE. I doubt they would have been able to help with this issue but they have helped me with other issues before.
