So I’ve just done a deal to buy a used 2021 Taycan TS and we already has Octopus standard tariff but obviously would benefit from their smart ev tarrif.

What charger is best to use these days with Octopus? Is it still the case that the Porsche charger doesn’t work with the smart tarrif?
WiFi to the garage is likely to be patchy at best but I can setup a WiFi booster.
I’m not planning on subscribing to Porsche connect.

So starting from a blank slate, what’s the best way to go?
The EV chargers below are compatible with IOG:

Hypervolt
Indra
Myenergi (Zappi)
Ohme
Wallbox
Simpson & Partners
Andersen EV

Get Octopus to install a charger - whatever they fit will be compatible. They often have special offers, too.

Ohme if you have decent mobile signal. It is mobile rather than wi-fi. Without Connect subscription you will have to use the car programming for charging as Octopus uses the Porsche server for battery percentage.

Can anyone confirm whether an older Andersen A2 - circa 2022 - is compatible with octopus intelligent go?
Phoned andersen & they said 'no'; phoned Octopus & they said 'yes' but unable to add device (the charger rather than EV) on their app, as it is not recognised by Andersen at log in stage.

I asked Andersen who said no. Same response as you. I don't think it is on the Octopus list of compatible chargers

Hi All, first time post-er, long time reader (took my car ages to arrive haha).

So, I have a Taycan 4S 2026 edition and an Andersen A2 set up with Octopus on their IOG tariff.

Got to admit, so far so good. Every time over the past week that I have used it to add charge it has worked perfectly.

At first, I couldn’t set it up directly with Octopus as apparently my A2 needed a firmware update. A quick call to Andersen to get them to send new firmware to my A2 and restarting the whole set up process with Octopus then worked perfectly.

I only set the maximum charge I want in the Porsche app and Octopus handles the rest.

I have no timers or schedules in the car or via Andersen set up…
is your A2 charger pre -2024?
i have had several conversations with Octopus & Andersen, with conflicting advice regarding compatibility of pre-2024 A2 Andersen chargers with IOG.
Certainly there are some people in the forums with much older A2s which seem to work.

Mine was bought and installed in November 2025. Not really had any issues with octopus.
Only trouble I’ve had was re a contact charge fault in Andersen charger side but that was resolved with a software patch by Andersen…

Had an Andersen A2 since 2021, has been working fine with IO since I've had my Taycan (Nov 24 onwards)

yes, but i assume it is paired with the taycan rather than the charger? If you've 2 EVs (or PHEV), then IOG needs pairing with the charger.

Yeah I believe so. I have an ev9 which just runs on a scheduled 2330 to 0530 window
