Hi, I just got my new Porsche Taycan RWD, and I’m really disappointed with the Bose sound system. The main issue is that the sound becomes jarring at slightly higher volumes.
I tried lowering the treble to the minimum, but then the sound feels unbalanced.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue and managed to adjust the system?

I felt robbed (without buying) when I trialed the standard audio system, and heisted when I heard the Bose, which sounded harsh and scratchy — quite jarring, as you described at higher volumes. In the end, I was looted into going with the Burmester, which felt much more pleasant to my ears.

In my previous car, a Mercedes C300 Coupe, I had a Burmester system, and there’s no comparison. Even at max volume, the sound was so clean!

Sound is also a lot about the balance between frequencies. I’m sure that with proper tuning, it will be possible to get great sound!

I’m afraid, unfortunately not with the Bose system on the Taycan, based on both my experience and what I’ve read. When it comes to sound, I generally prefer having a mid-point where I know most of my music will be played pleasantly and as cleanly as possible. The Bose just didn’t give me that.

*Note, these are personal observations.

That youtuber from Norway had a video about upgrading the Bose system with additional plug and play little amp that makes it much better according to him.

There you go:

I think it’s worth adding some sound deadening to the front doors especially since they tend to rattle.

It seems that the additional amplifier mainly provides more power.
I don’t think the system lacks power, in my opinion, it’s already very strong. I’m looking for a balance between the frequencies to achieve a stable, non-harsh sound at high volume.
I’m still tweaking the settings to find the right balance.

If you have "jarred or scratchy" sound, check all your door midrange speakers. Production fault makes them touch the support base, creating horrible sound at volume

I have a loan car with the Bose system at present.
I mainly listen to classical music and was surprised how harsh the mid-treble sounded.

The standard system in my car has a fairly even frequency response and reasonably low colouration. I was surprised since it gets a lot of critiscism. Classical music does not respond well to the boosted bass balance of most of the car systems I have heard and I don't listen all that loud.

OTOH my home audio system is a good one in a large dedicated room and every car system sounds pathetic compared to listening at home so my expectations are low...

Normally I dislike overly processed sound and especially the house BOSE "sound". But in my car (and I went from Burmester to BOSE) – I find that turning on the "Surround" option does actually improve things.

Yeah, its prob only adding some fake reverb – but it made the entire thing sound much less harsh to my ears.

I must admit my initial impressions of the bose is it sounded crisp and clean, but I'm no audiophile.

Ive not played with any settings yet and have not driven the car since I drove it home on the 30th.

I look forward to hearing it more.

BOSE system has additional settings that should be turned on. Same for burmester. Out of the "box", neither sound good. With burmester i messed around with a few settings after selecting the "live" template, to achieve a sound to my liking.

I also believe that burmester comes with aditional sound deadening material in the doors; or maybe the serive taycan with Bose i was given simply had not properly connected door panels, but they were rattling quite a bit more than mine with burmester
