Hi guys I read somewhere on this forum that the monthly payments on a 4S was lower than a RWD due to a higher residual value. Can you guys confirm if this is correct. Looking at the finance examples on Porsche.co.uk this does not appear to be the case all things being equal i.e. deposit and spec. Can anyone confirm?

Go back wherever you read this and see if you can find any details. I suspect someone made this one up, or possible didn't disclose full details such as "base 4S" vs. "loaded RWD". Perhaps they were trying to convince their significant other who was not into details. ;) Details always matter.

Highly unlikely. Residual can be set by you and so is variable. Purchase price is also different.

Get the examples, spec and numbers but I think this is wishful thinking and a play on some of the determining cost variables.

Need to compare apples with apples and not bananas.

That would be nice!! Unfortunately its definitely not correct. We got quotes on a handful of different models at the beginning and the monthly payments on the 4S are definitely more expensive.
We've gone for the RWD based on that .

I don't know about RWD v 4S, but I got quotes for 4S v Turbo which suggest that cost options add nothing to RVs (which were close in % terms between the 2 models). For every standard item on the Turbo that I matched with a cost option on the 4S, I was effectively paying 100% of the price (within the contract term) on the 4S but on the Turbo the standard item effectively had the Turbo's RV%. So in my case, the additional term cost of the Turbo c.f. 4S was significantly less than would be expected when comparing outright purchase of 4S v Turbo. I doubt though that there would be an options scenario that made the Turbo cheaper than the 4S.
(EDIT- just checked my records- I calculated that for the CT, a 4S would require £15k of options to get as close to the Turbo as possible, against a £30k base price difference. There's only an £11k difference in base price between RWD and 4S, but I've no idea what comes as standard with 4S but not with RWD. Then of course, even stuff that comes as standard isn't great value if you don't need it.)

Unless of course you narrowed down your car choices to these 2 finalists :giggle:

I compared costs on a high spec 4s and GTS with just the bits wifey wanted, the GTS was around £10 a month more.
